 bmar- on point. I only cared to see how gnarly that top line is... it did not disappoint. Him on top of the heart was such an insane view.

 I'm glad that even pro's have crappy gopro angles and it's don't happen to only me! Huge bummer for the whole world though.

 I thought he had the fashion statement all figured out with that camera mounted under the helmets sun block visor. He's got to fix the pov camera angle or look like a dork and mount it somewhere else.

 @Garythorn, The camera angle did suck. If you ever wore a camera you would understand. Also check out the other Rampage riders with proper camera angles and once again, you would understand.

 Kyle's run was cleaner, but his top section was also incredibly more difficult than Kellys, AND he hit the sender. Kelly's flip was absolutely legendary, so was Cams, but the best run won. Now I would argue Andreu's run and Cams run.

 TMac's 2nd run was the sickest. Drop as large as the Oakley sender, but au natural with a blind flip leading into it. Gnarly exposed line up top...dude put it together. Andreu's 2nd run was nasty too!

 Don't forget Kelly did not finish his run! He went off track and missed the last obstacles. Big mountain riding is all about riding sick lines, this is not a slopestyle contest like all the Kelly-fans think. You can't win a contest like this without being able to ride your whole line. Also Kyle's line was so much harder and more impressive. Yes Kelly would have wonif this was a slopestyle contest, but it's not. This is Rampage. Kyle fully deserved his first place.

 I agree I was there and I thought that Kelly McGarry should have won but it was still very close. And I don't think that it was that big of a deal when he went off of his line.

 I loath the Red Bull player too. It's unable to pre-load, and it automatically chooses the resolution for you. Usually I'd let it preload and watch it in 720, but this piece of shit player makes it only possible for me to watch in 240, or sometimes in 360 if I'm lucky. I can easily watch 720 or 1080 videos on youtube / vimeo / pinkbike. Red Bull player simply sucks ass.

 I use the click-to-flash plugin for my main browser (google it). It pretty much negates all the negatives with bad streaming players and goes strait (sic) to the core video. You can even download it to your computer and be in control of the quality. Highly recommended.

 Why do people hate on the RedBull player? At least it works, unlike the PB player which sucks huge donkey balls and can't stream for shit.

 Not with this angle. You can't even see where he's going. Still cool to see this video, but I would like to see what he sees (looking ahead and seeing what he's about to hit) instead of only seeing what happens underneath him.

 Backflips aren't everything. And what's done is done, your opinion isn't going to take Kyle's title away.

 Kyles run was pure gnar... Fact! No Argument... Let that not distract us... MCGAZZA WAS ROBBED!!! To judge Rampage they should upload all angles of everyones run for one week post Rampage and let the people vote in their Champion. I love the flow but should that outweigh the critical trick? I think the community should decide that not just a couple of judges... I might be outvoted but ya cant argue with the horde... You can question a couple of judges however. Still love Rampage for what it is and the effort that everyone and all the riders make. RESPECT!

 If you watched Rampage live you would know that they had a live voting system running.
The public got their "people's choice".
The judges know what they're doing, for example: Josh Bender used to ride shit like this so he knows the risk involved.
The general public, as mere mortals, don't ride this type of terrain (for the most part), so we can't even begin to understand how hard it is to drop into a steep chute, canyon gap, or Oakley sender.
Plus the judges walk the "course" at Rampage so they know what everything is like.
So quit it with the *so and so* got robbed business.

 To add to larryssman7's post, Rampage is a big-mountain event...not slope-style. Different criteria than just tricks are applied.

 True that, pretty annoying to see all these kids think they know so much more. And then they get confused and think this is a slopestyle contest. It's not. Can't win Rampage without finishing your whole run (McGarry went off his line and was NOT able to finish his run). Also if you would have checked the score-system for this contest, you'd find out that tricks won't give you many points, it's just putting a cherry on top of a cake. But without the cake (the super gnarly completed lines) the tricks are just a worthless piece of cherry, which aren't even worth 1 cent a piece.

 Big-mountain contests are judged by much, much more than just tricks. This was not a slope-style contest only.

 Yeah, the line was sick. I understand that. And i have serious respect for anybody competing at rampage, tricks or not.

 I put it as a coin-toss between Kyle and Kelly for 1st. I'm actually surprised Zink finished 3rd - albeit the sickest backflip ever - while Andreu and Tyler were 4th and 5th respectively. There wasn't anything really before or after the backflip that made it a podium-worthy run, IMHO.

No matter the event, judged events will always spark massive debate amongst the followers. Needless to say, I never desire to have to judge a contest of any kind.

 Yeah, Kelly had a great run, although I only recall certain parts of it. Zink maybe, just maybe got robbed of a few points. 4th and 5th were acceptable. Brandon had it going, he should have taken his time.

 Wish they should start a tech dh comp for runs like straits then i could choose not to watch it! What the peoples choice clearly proved is that most like to see style on the big mountain as opposed to boring tech runs... Pulling massive tricks anywhere down those cliffs is tech in itself lets be honest. Change your judging criteria Redbull Rampage to make it fall in line with what the spectators want and you might stop hearing that certain riders have been robbed

 LOL @ Dexta calling this a 'boring run'. It shows the lack of your knowledge about this. Go stand in top of that hill. The lines they do are not comparable at all to any other line in the world. Go stand on top of that mountain and you'll wet your pants. Even some pro riders choose not to ride Rampage because it's so damn dangerous. Please don't tell other how to do their shit better when you clearly know nothing about the subject.

 Quite a few pro DH races could do that same winning line with that same suicide no hander i don't see the big deal. Btw what top dh riders have chosen not to so rampage cause they're scared little mr know it all ?

 Kirill Benderoni and Sam Pilgrim chose not to ride this time. That's what was in the 'news'. Next to that I wouldn't be surprised if some other riders would have declined the invitation, what we don't know about.

There are 2 things going on with Rampage. There's the group of riders who love Rampage for what it was: big mountain riding. These riders have been riding for about 10 years or longer and have been following the first Rampages aswell and did big mountain riding themselves (or an urban version for the people who lived in cities / flat areas). These riders are complaining/afraid that the Rampage is becoming a slopestyle contest, and it would take away the uniqueness of this contest.....

 ......The other group of riders, often (but not always) are newer riders / young riders. These riders weren't around in the times when big mountain riding was big, and haven't looked up to riders like Kyle Strait, Tyler Klassen and Josh Bender, but these guys are inspired by the newschool riding, which at the moment is dirt / slopestyle (like all the other FBM stops). These guys look up to riders like Söderström and Pilgrim for doing many sick trick combinations. These younger/newer riders often spend more time on the internet and are probably mostly the guys saying the Rampage should be more about tricks, and that McGarry should have won.

In my opinion (I belong to the first group) there are already so many slopestyle contests. The Rampage is something unique, something special, something that reminds us of our roots, and hucking everything that's big back in the days. We want the Rampage to be kept the way it was, that unique contest that is all about who builds and rides the sickest line and hucks best.
Offcourse we love to see the riders pull huge tricks during their runs now and then, but we don't want that the contest will be judged on that. It's just an extra thing to make it more spectacular, that could give the rider some extra poins, like putting a cherry on a cake, but it's still all about the cake, and not about the cherry. A bit similar to when someone has a slow run in a racing contest and pulls a backflip, it's awesome to see, but he still didn't have the quickest run (which is what a race contest is about) so he shouldn't win a contest for that. And people will love to see that backflip most, because it is more interesting than someone doing the same run but 0.012 seconds faster, but he still doesn't get first place just for pulling the flip, even though he might be the favourite of the people watching (/Riders Choice Award)
