Yeah it's a nice video about how tough is judging this event.... But judges are completely wrong/weird. Really disapointed for Mc Caul brothers and their sick lines and big-balls ride. Looks like if you're not 720 to front flip the Oakley sender, you can't be a top freerider. Well, we still could make our own top 10, so f*ck, we ARE the only judges !
Im just speculating but I think he got graded lower on line difficulty because he did so much traversing to line up the gap. He was just cruising the ridge while the winners were bombing the loose chutes, so from a big mtn comp angle he wasn't riding something as challenging. Onbviously he scored well in amplitude, but he also only did the one flip which he barely landed, so I'm guessing they docked him on tricks/style also. Judging is subjective, not saying they were right, just trying to explain what I think their reasoning might have been. Same with Strait and Tyler, I think the judges wanted more tech lines. I will say Norbs should have been higher because landing 3's in Utah dust seems like it would harder than a flip.
nice! some of the best video coverage yet and good insight to the judging. its the tricks part of tricks and style that was missing from Gee's run last year. hes got the other categories nailed big time. come on GBR!
These NBC douches are bugging me so much! Why dont they have a real rider announcing/interviewing RAMPAGE? "tell me WHAT went Wrong on that 360 martin?" - um well i didnt land it, duh. come on...
I'm guessing Pat Parnel was a commentator since he's usually doing extreme sports coverage for NBC & I'd really rather listen to him over Brad Ewen or Brett Tippie even if Pat doesn't know WTF he's talking about. Wade or Ritchie would be good for commentating the Rampage I think. Even Bender, I think Bender would be a good commentator because he's really the first guy that showed the world this kind of shit is possible, & even though he's a bit cocky sometimes he's not a chore to listen/talk to like Brett & Brad.
So now are you going to do a counter story on how f*ckED the judging was??? The final results show that either these guys were ASLEEP or they were getting paid off...
I think the judges missed on a lot of the scores. The McCauls should have gotten way better scores and some other people threw down lines that are super impressive. Leave the tricks at Crankworx.
Some questionable judging... Not that sorge didn't deserve to win! He had a impressive and dialed run with lots of diversity. Its a free ride comp. Almost seemed like they were judging it as more of a slope style comp at times. surprised to see no one made it close to matching sorge's score! Was a wicked day of riding non the less
Judges in the Red Bull Rampage are probably used to judge "bird watching" events... or something like that.
One thing is for sure, after Cam's first run, I wonder what would be necessary to be first... if it was a 70, what would it take for a 75 or even an 80...???
Such a shame, that a potentially great event like the Rampage, is, as a competition, ruined by a group of probably blind people!!!
I have nothing against Sorge, but the judges I'm pissed about, it's as if they favored Sorge, those bastards gave him an 82 the first run and none one else was close even though several riders had huge freakish drops and jumps down the face like Sorge. I don't know if they favored because he was one of the first to do a backflip..... Cam didnt have the most crazy big mountain ride but his level to level gap across the canyon was huge. Almost everyone else's jumps were drops, except a couple of doubles on their runs. Then they gave Sorge and 86 or whatever, for the same run with like two more backflips in his run. I think will white deserved way better the what he got cause home and one other we're the only ones who hopped off the Oakley drop and blah blah blah, etc. just felt like there was a lot of favoritism or bias in some of the judging or all of it......
