Video: Behind the Scenes at the Urban DH Race in Manizales, Colombia with Remy Metailler

Jan 24, 2020
by Rémy Métailler

This is not a typical Urban Downhill video. This is a behind the scenes of a 1-minute race run in Manizales, Colombia, where the first stop of the Enduro World Series will be this year.

Tomas Slavik (who won the event) and I talk about the track, our bike settings, and the race lines as well as attitude when riding during training and qualifying. I hope this video shows the vibe of these incredible events as well as teaches you some racing tips!

Thanks for watching, see you on the trails or on Youtube.

After seeing what this dude is doing with his single crown DVO fork, it makes me sad for my fork.

My fork was so close to traveling the world and doing the coolest stuff. Instead, it will carry me (slowly) down a mild trail and be parked in the garage until we do it again next weekend. On the bright side, it has a much better chance of making it into the Friday Fails with me!

@fedfox: Thank you I appreciate that! In France, at the age of 10 (well when I was there), we got to learn English. Then, when we turn 14, we need to take on a second language. Either Spanish, Italian or German. I had no plans to go on either of these three countries, or in South America, but I thought, I may as well take the one that is the most spoken... And a few years later, I'm travelling a lot to South America and even spending 2 winters in Mexico!

I cringe at all the broken bones from the kids spectating this and then going out to send a few staircases.

All I had was Urban freeride when I got into the sport. Put my RM7 through hell sending stairs until I cracked the frame. All we had were hucks to flat. Makes you appreciate mountains that have trails even more
