I'm extremely excited moving forward...these cranks are pretty slick. They're definately more than adequate for 4x through DH. There will be more installed pictures of the prototypes this weekend (US Open). Installation is insanely simple and should make chainguide installation even easier.

as for the ruktion thing, the cranks came stock on my bike, and they havent been my highest priority to replace. ive been looking at buying holzfellers, but ive already spent my money on a season pass for northstar. riding is a higher priority to me than having better components. and yes i realize that ruktion cranks break a lot which is why im replacing them as soon as i can. ruktions brake because they are a very low end crank. mid- range is the holzfeller, which is all you need, and then theres the high end range, like these new e.13 ones
If its true that they're stronger then good times :-) But I remember the same thing being said about ISIS bearings and then External bearings and the balls are still pretty small and don't last long.
I guess we will have to wait and see!
Secondly. I am not anal enough to calculate the exact ball size and number of balls from the info given to see their size compared to isis and external BBs.
If you had actually read my comment you would realise that I was merely speculating on the longevity of the bearings. I did not say that they would not be better.
Again: If they are stonger, as is stated, then this is a good thing, however, without exact measurements, it is hard to predict if they will perform better and there is absolutely no way to know for sure until said BB has been used for a long time, in real conditions of mud/rain/snow etc
...put some thought into it for a minute....
Few people know because the product has only just been released.
Whether the bearing will last longer depends on ball size (you are correct) AND sealing and other varibles like the quality of the grease.
This isn't a debate on whether bigger ball bearings are stronger or not because engineering, physics and common sense tells us that they are.

So after all that debate, what you're trying to say is that the ball bearings are exactly the same size in both traditional external BBs and the new Hive/E13 item?
Sorry for being a dick, but seriously, maybe you need to stop jumping down peoples throats everytime they comment.
It's all in the numbers. the first number (25/30) is the ID of the bearing, the second number (37/42) is the OD and the third number (7) is the bearing diameter.
Enduro bearings use a smaller 24mm ID and mount directly onto the axle (instead of using that plastic spacer).
The main thing is ball size, not the amount of balls. Amount of balls has no bearing (pun lol) on the load they're capable of holding and their durability, as only a small amount of said balls are being used at any one time.

this will vary slightly by bearing type, but the fact that all of you are wrong still remains.
68 defines the series of ball bearing and its width. In this case a "thin cross section" deep grove ball bearing. Most likely this bearing has a steel cage and a standard amount of rolling elements. There are bearings manufactured with a filling slot to add another ball for extra load, these are called "Conrad" deep grove ball bearings. The amount of balls does have a bearing on the load they can handle, think about standing on one egg shell, or two or more. The load is spread out more evenly. The addition of the extra ball(haha) is done during the manufacturing process. Load ratings do increase with bore size.
05 defines the bearings bore of 25mm. Notice how bearing part numbers increase in 5mm increments. Pretty simple.
Here are designations for internal clearance. These designations are .C2, .C3, .C4 and so on. .C2 means there is a lower than normal clearance between the rolling elements (balls) and the races, hence a precision ball bearing. Then .C3 and so on means there is a greater clearance to allow for heat expansion of the rolling elements in a given application. As the number grows the clearance grows.
Deep grove radial ball bearings can withstand very high radial loads (Perpendicular to the shaft) and moderate axial loads (parallel to the shaft). The factors in determining the bearing life in the said application is: Environment, installation, steel quality. Other than that the bearings should last the same as any other deep grove ball bearing put into service. If manufacturers wanted the bearings to last forever, the could use a cylindrical ball bearing, complimented by a needle thrust bearing. Way too much over kill though, they want you to have to replace bearings at some point.
