Lewis Jones - Straight Outta Raglan

Lewis Jones is one of the most down to earth people you will meet - relaxed, approachable and humble. He is from Raglan, New Zealand - famous for its waves, but Lewis has never been surfing - he found his passion in the two-wheeled variety.

With a bit of space at his dad's property, he set to building some jumps, which over years of hard work progressed his tricks and style he's locally so well known for. He is now based in Hamilton (about an hours drive from Rotorua) and spends his days working as a plastic welder, but seizes any opportunity to go riding, including most lunch breaks!

Over summer, we caught up with Lewis at his local turf, followed up with Gorge Road - Queenstown, Rotoz - New Plymouth, Farm Jam and Crankworx Rotorua.

 The dude shreds, but I can't help but be slightly irritated he lives in Raglan and doesn't surf!!! I'd kill to have a long left hand point as my local! Mind you with some of the trails he's riding you can see why he doesn't give a sh*t!!! Good luck with the contests buddy.

 i live in raglan and dont surf too.because you go out there and there just dicks in the water agro and bad atitude.never seen that in mountain biking everyone friendly

 haha I couldn't believe it either, raglan is a sick setup if you like lefts! I found everyone was super chill when I surfed there but it was midweek and a pretty quiet time of year.

 @dirtbeard: Hard, thats the reason I dont surf much anymore. Always good vibes on the mtb but in the surf everyones out for blood

 I really like his mix of old and new school. As hard as tailwhips are, its nice to see a lot of other tricks...he doesn't seem to rely on them or barspins for his style. More steeze less flair.

 I feel like his riding is amazing. They have some pretty impressive places to ride there as well.

 He rips, good guy, and seems really humble. He'd always take time to chat with the kids when we'd see him at the Whistler dirt jumps last summer.

 some years ago i faved an edit of him riding whistler dirtjumps, he was doing some nasty barhop combos. I was hoping to see these in this edit again Frown still great riding for sure!!!
