The mileage has next to no time to relax: we've just completed the second and third rounds of the iXS EDC in Schladming and Val di Sole, but the next highlight of the season is already in the works! This time, our journey leads us to the Crankworx Europe in Les2Alpes in beautiful France. In the MTB scene everyone should be familiar with the Crankworx Festival. Those of you, who aren't, can probably stop reading this as you are probably not interested in the sport at all. The festival has its roots in Canada and has had a European version for some years now. Of course, the main audience for such a popular festival is the absolute elite of the sport - a perfect ground for another round of the iXS European Downhill Cup!
More than 10.000€ in prize money, an online live stream by Red Bull, a very hard and demanding track and the whole atmosphere of the festival lures numerous fans, visitors and, of course, the best riders in the world to Les2Alpes. And this year's startlist includes some of them: The GT Factory Team will arrive with Gee Atherton, while the Devinci Global Racing Team adds Nick Beer to the list. Hutchinson UR will send Tracey Hannah down the hill, while Brendan Fairclough rides for Gstaad-Scott, Miriam Nicole for Commencal Riding Addiction and Andrew Neethling for the Giant Factory Off Road Team. Just to name a few of the favorites...
The general facts concerning the track definitely speak for themselves: with a length of 2700 meters and a 700-meter difference in altitude the track calls for real racing action and high speed: Last year, Gee Atherton set a time of only 3:32.37! But the level of difficulty is not only due to the speed, but also due to many bends and huge jumps. Be ready for a breath-taking race!
Take a short look back at last year's race:

How can anybody who knows the Atherton Project or Farmer Jack seriously call Gee a douche? He is such a rad dude and always positive.
Also, like most of the times this video doesn't do the track justice...
It's insanely steep and the road gap has a sketchy off camber righthand turn right after it... the transfer gap is also really huuuuge.
Having ridden this course like a toddler in it's pampers, it's crazy to see the pro´s do it.
It may not have as many jumps as other courses, but those few jumps have plenty of air time.
Did I mention it's steep?
Pretty sure he's not george brannigan tho
wat?
it's coming from a record producer..
