What a result from Joe Breeden coming 4th elite. This is his first race since shattering his foot 7 months ago, and his first race in elite men. One to watch in the UCI world cup this year.
Kovarik put 14 sec into the field in 02 so there is precedent for large margins at the Fort (in the men's field. Fully aware of Rachel's double digit dominance for years). Still mighty impressive though. Go Danny!
Seeing Figaret in third makes me wonder what the rule book would say if a non-british rider won the British nationals (or any other national championship for that matter)? Do they give the flag sleeve to 2nd or just nobody gets it? Seems unlikely so just a random thought.
It's only the British national champs that get given the sleeve, not the normal national series - similar to how there's the world cup and then the world champs. But yeah, if someone were to race the champs who wasn't British, the top finishing Brit would get the sleeve.
Did the women go down in the rain or something? It seems the time gaps between the mens and women's winners is bigger than typical at nearly a full minute.
Gee is too busy doing other stuff. For me he is stealing a living from Trek. Not competitive at all, I wouldn’t be signing him again if I was a top team. Needs to look at his sister for how it should be done!
Gee could be considered a legend IMO. He's earned a right to rest on his accomplishments. He also puts out a lot of media to get exposure for his sponsors. He helped put British DH on the map. I think he deserves everything he has.
In a sense, the Athertons signed Trek, not so much the other way around. Atherton Racing is a package deal...if you want Rachel, you have to get Gee and Dan.
Had a peek at his previous results, he's had a few world cup podiums and one win (Leogang 2014) But I don't recognize his name at all.
Needs to look at his sister for how it should be done!
