Every time I watch Vernon on a video I can't help but to scream out loud "MAKE MORE BIBLE OF BIKE TESTS". Seriously, I haven't bought a new bike in a year or two because I can't be certain if these new bikes will help me clean lines I have never cleaned before. . Great varticle! Yeah I just made up varticle.
@Boardlife69: I'm sick of all those product features. I mean everybody who is into mountain biking and not a tiny bit gear queer is either a lier or a weirdo but enough is enough. I can't stand the constand rave and rage around new standards and parts anymore...
@tabletop84: I said bikes, not parts. I agree with you to a certain point about all the new standards but I also like progress. Sorry but I am not going back to my 1996 Hard Rock.
@Boardlife69: didn't intend on quoting you but I'm in the market for a new bike after a one year break and I already feel overwhelmed by all the new standards that came out...
I had a pretty good ride with my 3-year-old son yesterday on the outdoor basketball courts at the local middle school. I was riding my BMX race cruiser, he was riding his new DK strider. We had a great time rolling up and down an access ramp.
Otherwise, my last great ride was last November, right before I put my mountain bike away for the winter. I dropped a personal best time on my favorite trail by a minute and a half, even though I dropped a chain about a quarter mile into the ride. I was flying, and it just felt so good.
Last night (Monday) after work, SST with my wife and a buddy. Hero dirt, berms hooking up like crazy. Day before that? Mullet/Cheech & Chong/Rank Advancement, with my wife, after spending the morning building with a group of about 30 WMBC volunteers. Before that? Oh, Saturday, Wonderland/Kaizer/Pumptrack/A-Dog with a buddy (while my wife was riding with a group of women. Friday? Oh yes, after work ride with my wife; U-Line and A-Dog. Gotta love spring in Bellingham..
Jealous of those trails!! Took a trip out there early winter and it just blew me away how well they were built and the length of them! Going from 1:30 dh tracks to 4+ minutes is a true enlightenment.
Slickrock trail in Moab, I know its super common and I've been there a bunch of times over the years but this time I took my girlfriend and her two daughters (11,14) and they had an absolute blast, and they kept being blown away by how cool it was and the views.
In our travels and on our quest for the Holly Trail we always ask the riders we meet "what is your favorite ride"? Best answer ever is "the one I am doing right now, and the one I am doing to ride tomorrow" Any day, on any trail, on any bike is great.
Nice! Let's keep this going... Last great ride: Golden Eagle trail, SoCal. Good buddies, fast and flowy trail, beautiful views onto the desert to the North and mountains to the South. Perfect.
Gotta be visiting an old trail I haven't done in years last week. Just me and my bud, saw no one out, no rain, hero dirt. The trails ripped and even though it was familiar I picked mostly new lines on the descents so it was new again. Good to see you again Whites level, Afan Argoed.
I love the tech talk, but I love to ride more. Thanks for the post Vernon.
I had a great ride after work, yesterday. Pedalled from home up to and through 50 Shades to Rupert, Roller Coaster, Lumberjacks, Coho, then cruise back home. Tired and muddy, as we're ment to be!
Spot on Vernon! Not that anyone cares, but my last great rides were just on local trails aboard an Evil Calling that simply rips beyond belief.
Prior to that, I was up in RVA, and rode with a couple of old friends around the JRPS trails and some others. In stark contrast to the Evil, I was on a very sketchy POS I rented for $20. It had the longest stem and most narrow bars I'd ridden in 15+ years, not to mention a pogo stick fork and a triple drivetrain. Nonetheless I/we had a freaking blast doing 24 miles, with tons of laughs, heckling & beers to finish it off. \m/
Last great ride: My bike was stolen a couple weeks ago. So i stuck some modern tyres on a rigid Raleigh MTB which is older than me and rode it around Surrey hills. Was so much fun being on the edge of crashing this piece of iron gate.
Santa Cruz is rad but watch out for the poison oak!!!! Most of the west has it all the way up to Oakridge and Post canyon as you get to lower elevations along the coast.
What about a trail forks segment like this to get people stoked on mapping and sharing trails???? We all love to ride ssssooooo knowing more trails helps up the stoke and increase convenience!

Hell yea, ride your damn bike!
Something like.. Shut the front door and ride your fat bike?
