Leo Combee is, apart from a good friend of mine, one of the Netherlands' most talented mountain bikers. With (junior) National titles in cross country, fourcross and downhill this guy knows a thing or two about riding a bike. And being Nico Vink's (Belgian downhill legend) teammate for the last few years hasn't hurt his skill set either.

Leo's high speed, effortless style and ability to do skatepark-like tricks on a downhillbike, are but a few of the things that make it really entertaining to watch him ride. So as a filmmaker (and downhill mountain biker myself), I knew I had to do something with Leo's abilities. There was a video just waiting to be made.

The time finally came at the end of June 2013, when we made the trip to Bikepark Winterberg in Germany to film for two days. The result of those two days, and a lot of editing, is the video you're about to watch. A collaboration between two friends that shows how much fun you can have on a downhill bike, on any kind of track, when you think outside the box and try to find new lines. Enjoy!

Leo Combee would like to thank his sponsors Hope and Scott for their support in the 2013 season.

You didn't like Anthill's Not Bad?!

honestly, it was pretty good. nothing like their Follow Me. it was a bit short for me; i expected like one more scene at least. overall though it was notbad(see what i did there?) Follow Me will always be my all-time favorite bike film, hands down.

Don't think the guy know that he's on a DH bike not at hardtail or a bmx

Where the Trail ends was the best bike film so far. Its audio made it sound like a real movie. (Always will have a special place for seasons since it was the first one I ever watched in full).

Too right. Love the little trials hop towards the end too!

not sure why all the 100+ prop comments that point this out have been getting deleted, but riding fall line between trails not only damages them, but is dangerous to other riders and will get you banned from most parks.

yes be creative but don't damage the trails.

You're right Matt, but of course we only did this two times and made sure there were no other riders around for safety. We just wanted to make a cool video but indeed, when riding bike parks normally I would not recommend anyone to ride fall line or cut trails like that.

this guy totally knows all the secret lines!! wonder if he only rides park.....

Isn't it amazing how mtbing now has "park rats"? I never thought I'd see that term apply outside of skiing, but it seems accurate.

Really cool lines in there and that park looks incredibly fun. I think I was most impressed with those micro 3s he was tossing with that heavy-ass bike, haha. But I'm not the biggest fan of just ripping through woods because when it comes to trail degradation, I have a soft spot for sustainable practices.

It might not have been that heavy seeing as how people can get their downhills down to 35 without too much work these days.
  • 1 0
Still, the Gambler is a heavy frame compared to alot of the new stuff from Devinci, Specialized and so. Still pretty impressive how he handles the bike just as good in the super tecnical secret lines ans in dirt jumps and the little slopestylecourse!
