Brook “The Bulldog” Macdonald is back! Back riding bikes all day every day! No race tape this time around, but that doesn't mean the MTB heavyweight from New Zealand held back. On the contrary, Brook let his imagination loose for this one. To build his Dream Track, he joined forces with Remy Morton and the result is nothing short of MTB magic.— Red Bull Bike
Brook and Gee, both such an inspiration for showing the world how you can come back from severe injury with grit and humble determination. Legends both of them, couldn't be happier seeing them continuing doing what they love. You don't get paid for this kind of sport ambassadorship.
I read the intro link to the video as "Brooke MacDonald forces Remy Morton to build dream track". For a second I was like this is going to be a spicy video.
When me and a friend built our very first double, back in ‘96, every time I jumped it I landed perfectly but kept falling off. I had no idea what was going on until my friend watched from a different angle and told me I kept closing my eyes just before take off
Que in Remy’s edit, pair of shorts and kids cranks. Was wondering why Brook wasn’t at the races. Amazing work every one involved! Gonna watch it again now.
@scott-townes: tons of people can ride stuff like this, bike parks are just hostages to the insurance companies. They also want to build mainly blue trails since they still think thats all you need to make money
Brook is a legend and inspiration for many I'm sure, his race runs are always so sick to watch. Not gonna lie though this wasn't a particularly interesting watch, we see plenty of big air flow trail edits and this one doesn't actually stand out. Something like Remy's sound of speed or Brage's X games edit were both far better
Brook, I've been fan for years and again this is great riding and great reminder that things aren't over 'till they're over.
But, please, can either you or someone at Redbull explain what (if anything) has been done to compensate the CO2 emissions of the building ?
I thought it was pretty clear by now that having our bikes made in and shipped from Asia is already a luxury and that there are already tones of great trails that could host such a video (what's the 'best' trail argued by Steve Smith in Follow Me in New Zealand by the way ?) Nobody is perfect regarding this topic (and I don't claim to be, I drive my car to work everyday), but this kind of "toys" are outdated don't you think ?
honestly, you are totally right
but just as you drive your car to work to make money - Brook rides tracks like these to make money
you cannot be perfect regarding this topic because as soon as 'you are', you're a CO2 'producer'
@vhdh666: Also if you breathe, you're a CO2 producer. If people are that interested in reducing CO2 emissions, they can just stop breathing. If they don't want to do that, they can shut up about it.
@danielfloyd: Is that your genuine opinion? Because if it is I cannot comprehend how f*cking stupid you actually are. Why would you not want to reduce your carbon output, knowing that it is causing climate change (which is bad by the way), whilst acknowledging that is is unavoidable that you're still going to produce some carbon?
@Biologybossman: trolling for sure my guy. I'm definitely a pro-life individual, who doesn't wish death on anyone, but I think that anyone who thinks that we have a significant impact on the environment, to the extent of fully destroying the planet is kind of arrogant. The earth has warmed and cooled cyclically for its entire history. We do have some impact, but I think that other than through nuclear war, we aren't really capable of destroying the earth. Climate science is extremely loose.
@danielfloyd: well, I don't think that's correct (reg earth warming) but you're a pro life person, and that's good. So you can change your routines if you want :-)
@danielfloyd: What do you make of the data showing extremely clearly that, yes whilst the Earth does warm and cool, the rate of warming since the industrial revolution is far far higher than ever before?
As to arrogance of destroying the planet, do you not think that ocean acidification, ocean heatwaves, prolonged droughts, increased storm intensity and frequency, wildfire increase, massive deforestation, a huge rate of extinction, destabilisation of trophic interactions, and likely many things I have missed all point to the fact that we are quite obviously destroying the planet? By destroy I obviously don't mean literally, just to the point where it is uninhabitable for the majority of species including us.
@Biologybossman: didn't it also dip in the 70s when oil wasn't being burned a great deal for a couple of years? The problem about demonstrating facts at a point in time is that some performative contrarian will inevitably come along and undermine them for their perverse pleasure/money. Literally every major event in history could be called into question if you wanted to believe in a hidden truth. It's the cradle of religion and conspiracy theories. Climate change denial is the ultimate example. All of them drag the species back and this particular conspiracy theory will be the one that finishes us.
@BenPea: to be honest I don't know about that, but there will be variation within the overall increase depending on year on year source-sink dynamics so that could have happened if oil was still being burnt anyway.
I don't really know how the question about whether or not climate change is happening is still being asked. Referencing general warming post ice age as if that demonstrates anything other than that after an ice age temperature goes up is mind boggling.
@BenPea: Oil being burnt might have influenced that but I haven't heard of that or looked into it and like dirt said above there will be fluctuations across years.
@dirt-surf I agree, it seems pretty ridiculous that there are still people asking if it is real or not. I think some people take it as a personal attack on their lifestyle maybe? Whereas it's really asking the top polluters to curb it, and people can make daily changes to help this too.
@Biologybossman: it's fear of death. Everything's about fear of death. The wealthiest fear it most, coincidentally, and they have vast influence on govts and populations. We're talking Murdoch and his ilk. It's messy this climate thing and it's not bringing out the best in those it needs to.

I'm hoping you're just trolling tbh
