I wasn't going to take the time, buuut I may as well.
I've read a few, "where's the engine? Those guys are trying to be moto riders! Not Pod worthy" etc etc..
Are you people serious? Where have you been the last 10 years or more? Ah, likely in diapers for the most of you. Or, you haven't the slightest clue. A downhill bike resembles a motocross bike, minus the engine. They both have two wheels, and they both go fast. So, these guys are wearing the gear (smart move), and doing a wheelie/manual, and that makes them wanna be moto riders? It's the same effin' thing, except their legs are the motors, you simple minded freaks.
Good for you, that you can all do a wheelie, we're really proud of you, really. The point is, this guy got the shot, these fella's did the wheelie, they got pod, not you, so, quit your crying and go out and ride.
If you can't see the relationship between moto and mountain biking, please, remove your head from your asses, and try again.

So uhm, when did mountain biking become so judgemental? I thought this sport was about hitting a trail with the guys, some sweet jumps, mud, wrecks, and some okay pics. big deal. Every biker I've ever met on any trail has taken the time to help me with a mechanical problem or a flat tire or whatever, and I thought they were bad ass because they stopped to help and not rode by and laughed. Who knows. I might be on the wrong trails or something. That pic is pretty sweet guys. Looks like you're havin fun!

pulling wheelies is what people do in the car park, not setting up super duper photoshoots with all that silly motocross gear on. call me mad but i'd rather ride my bike than pose around on it but that's just me.

go f*ck urself. apokos is right the guys are having fun and they got a good photo, and im sorry i didnt realise wheelies didnt involve riding ur bike?:S and that only moto x riders can pulls wheelies ive seen loads of vids of pro dh riders pulling wheelies in parts of a track so whats the diferents i bet you wouldnt complain then?

Yeah hey guys I didn't mean to start a big fued and stuff, I just kind of enjoy riding and eatin dirt and not hitting some trails because Im not ready for them. I love the sport and every aspect of it, I just dont wanna be judged. I don't think any rider wants to be judged. Idunno though, I just ride. I know I'm not goin pro or anything. It's jsut fun as hell.

I'm wondering why the POD creates such a daily stir among those that aren't photogs. The fleeting cache of being a "POD" aside, is there some sort of cash award, special site privileges or free schwag given out? If you don't like the POD selection, just go to the photo section and check out the hundreds of other photos submitted and enjoy those instead. End of story.

Thanks for all the comments, good or bad. This picture was taken after a days riding at scratchmere scar in penrith, cumbria. When we set out for a day, we take pics to document our riding as we like to have a laugh, thats all. No big deal, as for someone whinging about the kit, its pretty standard kit, also they dont just wear it to manual, they ride downhill too! I agree it may not be your usual pod, but hey, its pod. so many thanks to everyone, and congrats ant and DANNY especially.

I've been reading some of the comments below this picture and I just don't get it. People are going on about how this picture takes no skill whatsoever and that the riders look like Motocross riders. I could say the same for about 3/4 of the pictures on this site, but you don't see me complaining. The truth is, it's not necessarily what people are wearing, what they are doing or what setting the camera was on when the picture was taken. It's about having fun, and these two clearly are. Now I know it's been said before but I'll say it again, Quit your bitching and complaining, It made Picture of the Day for a reason, and if you think you can do better then go for it. But if not, then shut the f*ck up.

Id like to see some one els manual over half a mile on a DH bike! Lol an your way more likly to come off in DH bike than MX. Coming down a track with obsticals faster than you can actally see then react, on an being cliped in stook to ya pedals. Hmmm Shit scary! Do love MX tho

well if you look very carefully at the bottom of the picture it says "This photo was POD on 2010-04-08" and i dont exactly see any brilliant shots on your profile so why dont you quit whinging, if you think this pod isnt good enough and want a better one then get of your arse and go and take a picture good enough to be one
