 This time I'm curious. Why flats instead of clip-ins? Temporarily or always? The build is very weight oriented and you have a front mech which would mean you ain't scared of cranking it upwards... why not give it an extra kick? Some of my friends went through 5.10+flat XC/trail period, and most of them are clipped-in back again.

 Well first of all, my platform pedals are lighter than most clipless pedals at 271g for the pair. Secondly I have never liked clipless pedals, I have always run flats and been just fine. I use 661 shoes with a sticky sole and my foot never raises up from the pedal while I climb.

 Ok, I understand Wink a lot depends what terrain do you climb/ride on. Flatties give great balance in corners and in rock gardens, and I believe no clip-ins can compete with that. Super rough XC I ride in Sweden makes clip-ins a must because how much power you need to unleash to go over some stuff, but in my hometown in Poland where I have proper mountains with long climbs I could easily run away with flatties+sticky shoes, and could definitely consider that option for more fun downhills

 I deny everything I said above... flats for XC are so much more fun, gave them a try for a year now and I notice no loss in Pa'fo'mance... quite the opposite

 Very nice, old favorite bike was that carbon S-works enduro with the fox fork that got built down to 25lbs, but this just took its place.

 over two months later, and im still staring at this photograph daily. The number of bizzare machinations that i have developed to obtain one of these is infinite. I would quite honestly say that Leonard is on my bucket list.

 how you liking those tires? im getting new rubber soon as my wtbs are wearing out and im looking at Continental Mountain Kings or Fat Alberts

 The tires are amazing, but the Super Sonic Black Chili compound that they're made of wears out very very quickly. If you don't mind the wear, then I'd say they're probably one of the best aggressive XC/AM tires ever made.

 Not personally. I have generally stayed away from Schwalbe tires because I hear that they have very thin sidewalls and are prone to tears.

 Maybe, but they're also exorbitantly expensive. Plus the yellow writing on the side of the Contis matches my bike! Also these tires are some of the lightest I've ever seen for their size. The rear 2.2 is under 500g and the front 2.4 is just over.

 They probably won't unless you never ride hardpack.

 It is pretty bad thing to have a "femalish" thing to rely on when things get tough... I prefer a friend rather over a chickfor a long journeys too. You don't have to talk to it, you listen to it carefuly because you like to, and when you want to change it for a better one: it does not complain!

My Nomad is a good friend too... a bit old but forgiving, quiet and always understanding my needs Smile

 So far the cranks are awesome. They're kinda a bitch to set up, but they're super stiff. I may eventually replace them with XTR just for the weight savings though.

 Tough enough for DH, light enough for XC. A few of my customers use them on their DH bikes with no failures yet after multiple runs at ski resorts.

 Hmm, meh on the TALAS. Float would look nice, but I prefer a black fork...Just pain the lowers and uppers black.
