Haha, I remember my first DH race ever was at the Sea Otter long time ago and I came up to a berm kinda like this one and mistook it for a jump....(noob). Lets just say it didn't end well, ended up landing on a dude standing below next to his bike and crushing him into his bike. I felt hella bad (shakes head).....sorry for the flashback. Cool sto.....

unless there's another berm behind it, and you land it.. making it look like you did it on purpose
Make the best out of a bad situation Razz

Dude, you don't even know how bad I felt. I came down from probably about 15' in the air cause it dropped off to down below. Okay this is how it went since I didn't know this would garner so much interest. It was a practice run, btw. So I go off the berm, instantly see this guy with his back to me standing next to his bike holding onto his handlebars looking at them. Now this is where everything turns into slow motion....I start leaning to the left to no avail. Sad to say....I basically "spot" my landing which was his back. I watch as my back tire lands on his kidney area and my big chain ring just stabs him in his shoulder blade. I proceed to crush him into his bars, then crush him and his bike into the ground. Kinda sucks cause I didn't even get a scratch.....but I basically road off of him, got squirrelly and crashed myself after about ten feet. So I run over to him laying on his back writhing in pain, clutching his wrist and muttering something in a foreign language (sounded like German). So "I start saying I'm soooo sorry, but why were you on the landing?" cause I still thought it was a jump but in reality I was just adding insult to injury. Paramedics ran over an told me to leave so I did. So a couple hours later I'm at the race booths and two employee girls at one of the booths asked why I was so dirty and I said I landed on somebody coming off a jump. Both of them in unison say "That wasn't a jump! That was a burm!" and tell me that they heard about it and the guy had to be taken away in an ambulance and ended his racing and then gave me a "you bastard" type of look. So, suffice it to say, the rest of the time I was at the Sea Otter I didn't mention it again......I was wondering why the landing was so flat for such a big jump till I talked to those girls. Yup, that's my shame.
