Understanding the UCI's New Policies for Transgender Athletes
You're focused on the red herring that is 'fairness' in sport. Removing gender based categories and classifying competitors on a range of factors that are relevant to the sport in question (weight, height, testosterone, vo2 Max, etc) would indeed make sport fairer, but that is not the point of gender categories and never has been. Gender categories exist to promote women's inclusion. Nothing else.
Sport is only ever 'fair' to the degree that everyone follows the arbritary rules of the game - whatever those rules happen to be.

Opinion: The Case For Being 'Over-Biked'
@Aptlynamed: i don't think it's marketing. Manufacturers make bikes for the average size bike consumer. Which is fair enough, they're not running a charity. It's the reviews (and opinion pieces like this article) that, to paraphrase @jcrr, may as well be written by aliens.

This. So this. We're still very much in the early stages of the inclusivity journey in our sport. As a shorter rider, the whole wheel size debate of the last decade was quite the eye opener when comes to the bias of the average bike reviewer. I think you're spot on mentioning height as a factor in choosing your preferred travel.
