Motion Engineering Are Developing a Sub-1200 Gram Single-Sided XC Linkage Fork - Eurobike 2024
Well my shouts probably won’t be worth much in 30 years - I got a light use pair after they folded and love them for the steep tech/slop where I live in in UK. Now for appreciation of antiques sold my BMW TMX recently for near 10 x what I paid for it in 2001 (ok it was in barn find original rather than box fresh but with gen 1 burgers super monsters seismic sets the new owner knew what he was getting. Cars however not so much

Video: The 'Science' Behind Cleat Positioning with Ben Cathro
The smart money in triathlons as well as moving to shorter cranks had also worked out that a rear placed cleat benefits them - me I’d worked it out that my feet on flats were arch central so it made sense to clip as far back as practical - where is my dremel?

This Carbon Chainring Weighs Just 39 grams
This is filed under the UC or EC (excessive or unnecessary complication) now if our friends from Spain were to go the extra mile and have a topology optimised 3d printed titanium ring you’d have a engineered solution rather than some interesting but slightly incorrect solutions. - wonder if it’s the same guys that were producing carbon fibre brake discs a long time back?

Opinion: Why Weight Doesn't Matter
Aside from Henry’s pomposity speech style need a dictionary/thesaurus real-time to handle to translate I was reminded of my short experiment _ 1x of taking my 7kg road bike gravel riding over my 29 ht - disaster roadie of course (w) rong geometry and super skinny tyres and ass in air etc but the lack of weight - no planting on the downs and a serious lack of traction up hill Then again another experiment with my Nicolai Nucleon with gearbox - 26 and just before long slack etc become the thing - it’s a boat anchor and with good legs it will go up all but the steepest and the weight distribution was/is a joy on the descents - not so good lifting it over stiles (a UK thing)

Dave Weagle Patents High-Pivot Drivetrain System
@vinay: I’ve a BMW TMX and a couple of the nicolai gboxx nucleons - these things pedal flat and the nukes if you have the legs can go up hill with their massive gear range if anything they were under geared so it’s easy to overspin if you are on the smoother down hills

Dave Weagle Patents High-Pivot Drivetrain System
@fartymarty: my TMX is ‘97 vintage one of the last before they went to race link - pretty much zero bob when pedalled shame it weighs as much as Brooklyn bridge so can’t comment on uphill work beyond pushing

The Myotragus Dorothea is a 200mm High Pivot Bike With a Gearbox
Good call - still have a pair of NIC Nucleons I picked up cheap around 15 years ago once the gboxx bubble burst stick rolling and rocking - must have a try on a pinion as they seem to have it nailed and if you legs are up to it you can pedal uphill to a degree
