2022 Pinkbike Awards: Mountain Bike of the Year Winner
@plustiresaintdead: it'll happen in the next 5 years. Then everyone on PB will forget how they hated ebikes, just like how they forgot how they hated 29ers.

Things That Didn't Happen in the Bike Industry Last Month - Round Up
If it wasn't already taken I'd be describing my e-mtb as a mullet bike. Cause I ride it to work through the week, then it hits the trails on the weekend. Means one less car driving around too.

The UCI's Major Rule Changes for the 2023 DH World Cup
This is a legitimate thing. It's common for women to mention rolled up sleeves and sexy forearms as drool inducing. It's why AFL players here in Oz wear short shorts.

First Look: The 2023 Giant Reign Gets More Travel, Adjustments, & Storage
I've had a Talon HT, Fathom HT, Trance, Anthem, hybrid, Defy road bike and a Fathom HT e-mtb. Never had a failure and the Anthem was the dodgy 2012 frame. Been riding the ebike for 3 years now, thrashing the guts out of it, and no issues. As for the bike snobs, Giant probably make the frames of the bikes they are riding...

First Look: 2023 Scott Lumen - The Electric Spark
@SATN-XC: It's about $16kUSD for the top of the line one. Going for $26k in Australia. Insane.

Pinkbike Poll: Are You Shopping for MTB Deals on Black Friday?
I got a pair of Five Ten Freeriders for $60 AUD instead of $180. Online from a local seller. Can retire my old Nikes now! Lol.

[Updated] Q3 Revenue Round Up: Falling Consumer Interest, Layoffs & Drop in Sales
@blowmyfuse: it's interesting. In '98 I bought an $800 fully rigid MTB with v-brakes. That's about $1500 today. Which gets me a decent Alu hardtail in Australian dollarydoos.

Rebecca Rusch's Checklist for Backcountry Self-Sufficiency
Good idea. I went riding a few months back and had to help out a fellow rider who'd taken a nasty tumble. Was able to get him warm with the extra layer I was wearing. It was cold and raining and he was starting to go into shock with a couple of broken ribs. Myself and another rider (who had her stuff squared away) had to walk him out to a road as well. Be safe all. If you can't be safe, know what to do.

Revolution Bike Park Closes Indefinitely
Different circumstances I know, but my local, Majura Bike Park here in Canberra has survived, and indeed thrived, after having a giant highway cut through it, and semi regular tree felling as it's built in a commercial pine forest.

Bike Check: Adam Brayton's Nukeproof Prototype From Red Bull Hardline
@korev: it's actually a little high. Over 25 is overweight, so just looking at numbers a doctor would say, "hmm you're ok now, but don't let it drift". Which is why BMI is full of shit. Adam is a beast of a fit dude, a professional athlete, and still ends up with a BMI like this. A meth head who's his height but skinnier would have a better BMI than him. BMI is, at best, a very rough guide to predict issues that may occur. It's as useful as just looking at someone.
