Curtis Bikes' New Thumpercross Steel Downhill Bike - Bespoked Show 2019
I agree. Great aesthetics. I'm at that point of my life where I'd target a bike like this and be proud to ride a builder's vision and execution (combined with my own). I guess a sort of counter view point to the "but you can have a lighter, cheaper, mass-factory made bike with more modern suspension kinematics"; not everything in life needs to be a practical decision.

Good Month / Bad Month: Mixed Wheel Sizes, Injuries, and Plenty of Controversy - April 2019
To paraphrase someone who knows a lot more about bikes than I do: "the front wheel and rear wheel do very different things"

Interview: Claudio Caluori on Concussions, Closing His Race Team, & the Josh Bryceland Controversy
@bizutch: Better translation: I work in the USA Insurance Industry which is complete rubbish and values profits over people so athletes - go die for us...are you not entertained? With all due respect, the decision to offset a profit margin and bring a change isn't coming from someone who is in sales or middle management and peddles crap policies for a living. To put it another way, you are not in a position to change squat Disruption and positive change never comes from a person who is not in a position to say Yes so don't take No from them. "You want a free surgery cause you huck your meat in the desert 1 day a year and unload your femur? Screw you & anyone like you with their hand out" ^LOL. Angry. Scared of change. And a view point on health care access that is almost solely American.

Pinkbike Poll: Do You Ride a Hardtail Anymore?
I like the tele analogy too but maybe for a different reason. If we are honest with ourselves, both tele and hardtails are *generally* less capable than the cutting edge counterparts. Or at least less capable with similar efforts... However, in the popular ambitions to be better, more efficient, more capable - we devalue the equipment-to-user feedback and related sensations. Put more succinctly: it feels uniquely good to make a tele-turn. It feels uniquely good to rail on a HT. Reasons enough for me, and more as I get older, I'm chasing the satisfaction I get from trail-equipment to rider-sensations vs. something that is measured with a stopwatch or how far you can send it.

Video: How to Manual with Duncan Shaw
@DirtMcGuirk07: You should practice English the way I practiced wheelies. Eventually you'll pick it up.

Video: How to Manual with Duncan Shaw
True story: I used to have those dreams... amazing feeling. Then I practiced and practiced and actually could effortlessly wheelie/manual in real life...and strangely -> it's exactly the same feeling as the dreams. Point is: it's within you and there's more going on in the subconscious than we give ourselves credit for

Cecile Ravanel Seriously Injured During Training
It is a good question. I had a fractured C5, C6 (and a broken T12 in a different crash); from what I understand, usually these breaks are from a impact twist that exceeds the ROM (vs. crashing hard on rock in a direct impact). There is belief that some of the braces would provide some resiliency to these these injuries since they limit the ROM... I don't wear one but considered it... I may reconsider (esp. in moto). Regardless, I hope she makes a full recovery - it sucks - that time in brace (plus possible surgery) is a real drag. Tricky business so you really want to be conservative in your recovery approach.
