Burning Question: What's The Ideal Frame From a Shock Manufacturer's Perspective?
Checking for understanding on something Dave Weagle said:
"...the shock absorber typically includes a unitized spring and a damper. From an internal chassis force standpoint, the performance balance that’s most advantageous for the spring isn’t always the most advantageous for the damper."
So is he saying that we could, or should, have the spring and the damper be separate items that could be installed in different locations? With different linkages!!?? So that the travel of the damper or leverage ratio or whatever of the spring could be different than that acting on the damper through it's travel?
I'm trying to think of an example. Like the old (like 90's) Amp linkage fork that had a coil spring in the middle of a linkage and a little damper that was mounted on the sides of the linkage in a different orientation, not through the center of the coil.

Video: Tech Tuesday - How To Bleed Shimano Brakes
Maybe it's more of a superstition, but I always tap on stuff from the caliper all the way up to the lever as I'm bleeding to help the bubbles not get stuck on their journey upward.
