This is beyond stupid. atrocious bearing forces, stupid design choices like the wedged seat clamp and all internal makes it a maintenance nightmare that is acutally going to be a regular annoyance because it will eat trough bearings. The old ones were horrible to work on, this seems to be on another level and all just for aesthetics sake... and the result is not even especially pleasing to the eye.

New fork bushings needed in 3, 2, 1 and done. (big brakes fuck up your bushings fast, this one looks like it could stop a train. Clearenace seems to be sufficient for the vented rotor so... ...I dont need it, but I want it).

"position sensitive top out control" = what everyone else has been doing since 1998.

so the starting price is 1249 and will be more expensive in the future. This makes the smallest andreani machine (SP2) almost a competitor and if I were in the market for a cheep vacuum lbeeder I would go directly with the andreani just because you got a 2 tank design which is has proven to be fairly reliabile over the past years. So I do not see this thing bringing anything news to the market except for a, right now, halfway competetive price. the disadvantage of all affordable bleeders is the horrible build quality, they all suck in air through all their hoses and piping and there is no absolute pressure gauge. This one falls in the same league. Hoping for them to get this project to market but don´t see anything new, neither in pricing nor in quality.

If your balls are hanging down to your knees, a mountainbike with a linkage quite upward in the frame is the least of your worries mate.

@Muckal: buy the cheapest shimano 4 pot brake and rip the seals / pistons out. Never done it but know multiple people doing it to keep their saint / xtr sets running.

@briain: The only performance advantage of the vented rotors, except for making you smile everytime you see them, is the added thermal capacity plus, and that is the catch, they shed water perfectly since it cannot be trapped in the holes of the disc. therefore they work extremely well in the rain / mud season. I can tell from experience that brake service (complete strip down with seal / piston replacement) on a current gen hope brake is absolutely idiot proof work and can be done even by an average mechanic. If you can change a fork and bleed a brake, you can do the full service on your hope brakes. Big plus are that the hope stainless lines are only 5mm, so internal routing is not a nightmare compared to goodridge lines which I run on my shimano setups. Also the upcharge is minimal so i would pay it again gladly everytime.

@Mfro: I do. My Tech 4 V4 with vented discs (220,203) blow my saints (galfer pads, 223x2.3mm brakestuff rotors plus stainless lines) out of the water. Rider weight is 110kg. The Saints feel punchier because their lever action is more aggressive, the hopes deliver more power through the stroke. In power terms I would rate the V4 more powerful than Trickstuff Maxima / pimped out Saint / pimped out shimano+magura bastard. Modulation is so soft that they just don´t feel that powerul until you switch back to those aggressive brakes and feel they feel... ...wanting for power. Please beware that this kind of stopper size has a very negative effect on front suspension bushing life.

Another good point about Hope is the possibility to mix and match. You could easily change your Tech 3 levers to Tech 4 levers and have enough braking power to stop a train.

@schu2470: It is not. And do it properly the first time and you won´t have to touch those brakes in a long time. Servicing my hope V4s takes longer than servicing my multiple saint brakes but I do it a lot less frequently and they just tend wo work flawlessly regardless.
