7:45 - the reason here in South Africa we refer to them as tyres and not tires... Tire = "to exhaust or greatly decrease the physical strength of" Tyre = "a thick rubber ring that fits around the edge of a wheel of a car, bicycle, etc."

No, it's the opposite. They upgraded the X/M/E 1700 and 1501 to something closer to the old 1501, and 1200 wheels, but with better pricing and updated technology.

With a Credit Suisse estimated market share of 70-80% of the entire cycling industry I don't think it's had as profound effect as we think. Not saying Shimano should take this lightly, but rather that it's not as big an issue as we might want to believe...

@rstokes: I have both too. RC are definitely not as grippy, but they are certainly grippy enough. I've never slipped a pedal with them... Must also be said that I would rather have shoes with 80% of the grip than 5.10 but with 2 - 3 x the lifespan

@Marc2211: My grip of choice for years until I came across the Deathgrip! ODI's flange bolts got the better of me. Rogue still an all time grip for sure though - lasts long too!

I do the same! Best combo. High GI dates and low GI nuts with fats provide short and long term energy. So much cheaper as the manufactured equivalent as well!
