Shimano Announces Affordable Deore M6000 Group and a Wide Range SLX Option
@mikealive: LBS should have higher prices to have margins and offer time to market solutions. If I need a part quickly, I'm willing to pay a premium to the LBS and get back on the trail. Further, if I need service (never) the LBS is ready to meet that need. Online: Price is lower but takes a few days to receive part. Some folks have no desire to work on their own bike. LBS if for them. So the model is already in place. With regards to new bikes, same thing is happening today, some prefer online, some prefer LBS. Hopefully for the LBS this model does not get entirely shifted to the order on line, pick up at LBS model as I think the LBS will suffer if this is the case.

DVO Mob n Mojave at Bootleg Canyon
Fastest time was Men's open, local. What was fastest Time Pro Men's? Those 'trails' are so amazing, I had the opportunity to ride them in 90+ heat and would do it again if ever given the chance. The sound of tires ripping on those rocks are burned into the memory. Rented bike from the friendly folks at All Mountain Cyclery and spent the day riding Enduro style refueling at Dairy Queen every 2 hours just to maintain hydration.

@medievalbiking: Thought same thing, inflates when needed. But if tire is off rim, or nail is in tire, will do no good.

Old Skool Meets New School: Tom Ritchey - Video
Great interview, surprised that Tig welding did not enter the conversation. Hard to imagine in a modern bicycle shop that brazing would be preferred over tig. Tig should be Lighter, stronger, potentially less annealing affect.

Pinkbike Poll - What's Your Dream Gearbox Bike?
For me, I see ergonomic design issues with all of these bikes. it looks like the center of axis of crank on these bikes appears to be behind the seat tube. For seated and standing climbing this will put undo stress on the knee cap (patella). If all gear box bikes are to be strictly dh then disregard but I don't think that's the intent.

$1200 USD and still has the chain returning to the front sprocket off an idler gear which is 3 inches below the hub. Why must you have this derailleur looking feature which is ready to be bashed by rocks and trees?
