@g-42: let's not forget that bikes at this price point 2 or 3 years ago had 32mm stanchion forks like the revelation or xc32. The 35 gold isn't perfect but it's faaaaar better than what was specced at this price point before.

I don't see why downtube protection is necessary on alloy bikes. Maybe a bit of 3m tape but I've never heard of a cracked downtube.
