D-2 SHIM TECHNOLOGY: One stem, two handlebar standards. The Machete can run either ⌀35mm or ⌀31.8mm handlebars using the carefully designed D-2 shim. Simply clip in the shim when you want to run 31.8mm bars. D-2 shims are available separately.

Tested to exceed EFBE's Tri-Test Gravity standard (Category 5), the result is an incredibly direct, dependable interface built for the gnarliest riding scenarios. From Szymon Godziek running the Machete SC on his bar-spinnable Rampage bike, to Nico Vink surfing the backcountry mountains of Chile or our riders sending it at Hardline or LooseFest on the Direct Mount, it's a stem setup that will always leave you stoked when you look down at your cockpit.

Machete Direct Mount and Machete Single Crown are available now.

Reverse Components, eh? Shouldn't those stems be mounted the other way?
  • 120
 only compatibly with manitou forks
  • 11
Of course. mounted upside down, it would be a true DH stem.

As a machinist, I love seeing nicely machined parts. I also like seeing well used machine tools. However, I would never put my finished parts randomly on part of the machine covered in chips and I don't get why these companies do this for product photos.

Having worked at some manufacturers, it's usually a marketing person saying nah i dont care it'll look cool for the shot
  • 153
@KolaPanda: Imagine a world without marketing, consulting, executive, finance, or HR. Just the people who actually do stuff. How wonderful life would be.
  • 91
@tacobellbiker: it'd probably have some downsides you wouldn't expect. Not everyone is good at technical work, there are people at my company who do a great job at making sure we've got a long line of customers who want product and a decent team of people who make sure the company is in a state where paychecks are never late, and we've got solid benefits. Don't have much great to say about consultants though
  • 11
Who's to say it's not a flawed item. would your OCD still wig out over that?
  • 20
I really like how it's on a manual lathe too even though that machine plays 0 part in making like any of their products
  • 90
Disclaimer: no stems were permanently harmed in the making of this press release 😀
  • 10
Not as bad as a new product with the designer posing with a black shirt on a black background with pink-framed glasses and a pen in their hand near their face; The Architect pose.

why not include stack height for the stem? I know it isn't fancy marketing data but it is good data to have in decision making.
  • 10
Sorry we should have had that in there. Stack height for the Machete SC is 38mm.
  • 50
Shame the DH stem is so long. I'd like to see more 10-20mm options.
  • 120
 Have you considered reversing it?
  • 40
We are planning a shorter version too. Nico Vink really wanted a 50mm, so we started there.
  • 10
@speedsquishstupid: 20mm reversed is -10mm so I'd think 50mm reversed is probably -30mm which is a bit much.
  • 10
@ReverseComponents: I look forward to seeing a shorted version then!
  • 40
They should make a blood clot red Danny Trejo edition.
  • 40
I heard it gets the women and kills the bad guys
  • 30
Looks kinda like my renthal stem
  • 33
Meh-good stems with some track marks to show off how they're made (even ones made in N.A. or Europe) are pretty common. If you're gonna do this, offer anodized colors. Same stem in purple would no longer be meh.
  • 20
Love the design of these. Does reverse own sb one? Id love some shims to use 31.8
  • 30
Definitely one of the nicest looking stems designs I've seen for a while.
  • 20
Nice, these stems are correct dimensions, none of this crazy short and high stuff!
  • 20
These are 2 of the stems.
  • 10
Where do we get those bars, the silver not black?
  • 21
 Bikeinn has them in silver.
  • 10
 👀👀
  • 33
Another missed opportunity for a 44mm reach stem.
  • 40
They make a 45mm DM stem that is called Black One D2 DM.
  • 23
@evernorth: yes, I should have clarified for single crown fork. Most modern single crown forks have a 44mm offset and having a stem at the same reach is optimal to me.
  • 30
We do have a single crown 44mm stem coming very soon..
  • 10
@ReverseComponents: Awesome, I'm looking forward to it!
  • 20
 @ReverseComponents:
Any plans for a 50mm single crown stem?
  • 10
@Danos109: Yes a 50mm Machete SC, and a shorter DM version is in the works.
