5 Environmental Initiatives in the Bike Industry: Trek Removes 433,600lbs of Plastic, Sustainable Manufacturing, & More
@knutspeed: Wait what? You would change rotors literally every rainy day if it was so, somewhere even if the day wasn't rainy. I was in Croatia at seaside and literally every car parked there had rust on its brake rotors. But guess what, that rust will go away during the first instance of braking when you drive again.

5 Environmental Initiatives in the Bike Industry: Trek Removes 433,600lbs of Plastic, Sustainable Manufacturing, & More
This is a very complex topic, but basically has to do with low cost labour especially in Asia which results in very low prices and very large quantities of products which makes it uneconomical to repair things, because it is often the same price or even more expensive than a new product which there is (well, 'was' at the moment) an abundance of. So in the end the main cause is the disproportion of pay of the people who make the new product and the people who repair it + scandalously high costs of replacement parts. At least from our ('western' civilization) point of view.

Video & Update: Spectator Arrested for Causing Massive Pileup on Stage 1 of the Tour De France
@snide: They have a spot on the TV for spectator behavior and surely handouts too. There are definitely cars and bikes, including police, in front of the race, but they can't ride 100 meters in front of the riders and even if they did, the 100 meters is still enough for a fucktard to move in the middle of the road with a billboard.

@mountainsofsussex: You cannot do that without removing the valve, which means you have to remove the tire too.

Review: Mavic Crossmax XL 29" Alloy Wheels
@jesse-effing-edwards: I dont understand you. What rim tape? Anyway it's your choice to forget to bring your toolbox with you. It's a thing you should automatically take with you for any multiday trip. Plus as I said, you might not be able to get standard parts anyway on a trip, which is why you bring spares.

Review: Mavic Crossmax XL 29" Alloy Wheels
Is it really so hard to bring proprietary spokes with you instead of non-proprientary ones? To me it was always the same. Yes, there is a big chance you wouldn't find the proprietary spokes in a shop on a trip if you needed, but that's why you bring spares with you on the trip, right? There is actually quite a big chance that might fail to find fitting non-proprietary straight pull spokes in a shop too.
