Speed is always interesting, HR not at all for DH on the other hand. What I'd like to see is power. These numbers could be very interesting.

@CarbonShmarbon: Thing is the preferred cadence changes many times during a single ride. Also what about a situation when your preferred cadence is 85 but the closest gears give you 80 or 90? Slight variation in terrain or power changes your cadence and it could be changing gears there and back again. Of course it's dependent on how it's programmed, but I hope you see the point. As someone already pointed out. Human changes gears depending on what's up ahead, computer changes gears depending on what is currently happening. If you ride flat, then there is a very short steep downhill, let's say 10 meters, followed by a steep climb, I can easily imagine scenario where you enter the climb in the hardest gear because you kept pedalling on the downhill [with auto transmission].

Semi-Final Results from the Lenzerheide DH World Cup 2023

Luckily I have already paid for it for road cycling where the coverage is on another level. This is real bad compared to previous years. The drone footage with the humming like wtf?! Also don't use drone inside a poorly lit forest. Together with the lower quality camera and high compression it looks like youtube 15 years ago. Maybe worse.

@Mtbdialed: Perhaps because they train to perform their best? Why are you asking dumb questions? Of course it helps a lot with their performance, but it's not the main limiter unless you are completely out of shape and even then strength would probably be the more important parameter.

@Mtbdialed: WTF man?! That's not what I wrote. I just pointed out that cardiac output or VO2max are not the main performance limiters for downhill.

@gcrider: That part about cardiac output and vo2max is complete BS in relation to riding a bike downhill. For sure there are rather big physiological differences between men and women but vo2max or cardiac output are not the limiters here. Those would be limiters if they were riding the course uphill.
