bigquotesWe were tired of watching boring videos filmed totally in slow-mo with predictable music. We wanted to make the most awesome video like the old golden days of freeride, so we headed to South Africa to build the biggest jump we could and then filmed it. Here's the trailer of what we made: Pure Darkness 2 - The Step-Up.
Tom Grundy

bigquotesThe trail park is one of the coolest bike parks on earth! We made a hole so deep in the ground you'd need a mining permit to go half as deep in North America!
Matt Macduff

Stay tuned for the release of the full edit here on Pinkbike on May 21.

"I wanna look cool in front of my mates so, I'm gonna hang around outside the precinct and smoke cigarettes whilst listening to sh*tty music through my tinny phone speaker" - Incorrect. "I wanna look cool in front of my mates so, I'm gonna throw them the horns whilst pulling this Superman seat grab" - Correct!

Went riding there 2 weeks ago. The trails are amazing. Best riding experience for me in SA. You cannot comprehend the size of that thing. It takes a brave man just to push up the roll in which is 10m high and super steep. Rob the farm owner is a super cool guy. Unfortunately he crashed on our last morning there and broke his back in 2 places as well as his pelvis. He's a hard man for sure cos he checked out of hospital yesterday.

 Oh Shit!! Hope he's okay...

Yeah he checked out of hospital yesterday. Good guy. Good trail builder. The trails there are so rad. This is a youtube of the jump line and trail next to that crazy step up. Rob is the guy in the JCB and lying on the deck at the end of the vid.

Looks rad! I had no perception of how large the step was just by the still image until the trailer began and I saw these little ants building it up haha. The dozer looks like a Tonka toy on there. Holy Toledo.

I'm at work and it shows up on my feed. I'm sorry to tell you this but we honestly could care less about your misguided opinion. I just thought it would be polite to let you know so you can stop wasting time ranting about meaningless things.

give me one of those bikes and I could jump it! the reason I wouldn't use my bike is because when I crash I want to have a bike to ride. cant imagine what this jump must look like in person!
