Aaron Gwin Comments on Injured Ankle, Broken Cranks, & More
@adrennan: Same with the dropper. I had high hopes and drank the kool-aid. My post developed abnormal play in a couple weeks. By the time I knew it, the loose top cap had allowed the pins to lunch the inner post. Ocean fill.™

Pinkbike Primer - Nove Mesto World Cup XC 2019
In my neck of the woods, most all of the xc tracks worth riding(tighter singletrack; some degree of tech; requiring some amount of bike handling), are either raced in time trial format, or not at all. The wider corridor stuff is great for head to head racing in that there are great passing lanes and such, but the tracks aren't generally very dynamic. The mass start races that do use legit singletrack tend to end up a roadie sprint to the woods, followed by a slower pace line in the fun stuff. Tracks that actually measure mountain biking aptitude well, generally don't allow for a head to head racing format.

My current fox metah is the same way. Gets uncomfortable after a bit and actually makes my skin peel like a sunburn sometimes.

A true work of art. A draw to world class athletes. Built and maintained by volunteers. Irreplaceable character. Can't monetize it, so doze it, and replace it with dollar signs. Tragic, really.

Video: Are 29/27.5" Mullet Bikes Faster Than 29ers?
@clink83: I see why you took it that way, but I wasn't suggesting that you should take your trail bike to the skatepark. I'm pointing out that those dynamic qualities that make smaller hoops excel there, also apply on any decent trail. You're paying the price for stability and ease of rollover with a lower quality of pump and marginally weaker handling dynamics. 29ers win on the stopwatch because they're 'good enough' in those parts of the trail and faster over rough and pedally bits. Very few tracks offer enough pump and handling to offset the time gains of 29ers in other areas.

Video: Are 29/27.5" Mullet Bikes Faster Than 29ers?
@Purpledragonslayer: When you say go back to 29er, are you going back to one with dated geo? You won't likely see another 29er under my bum for the same reason you don't see them at the dirt jumps, skate parks, on trials bikes, or winning at pump tracks. Once you get away from pure racerbois mentality, you'll realize that virtually every non rolling speed tradeoff is a lose on bigger wheels. The industry won't sell you on the negatives.

Imagine if he had crashed into the street... in front of a moving van. Or in front of a hungry velociraptor... or in front of a horny velociraptor. Or in a crowd of the undead during the zombie apocalypse. Proof that flat pedals save lives. And prevent sore backsides.
