For the benefit of further educating the younger crowd... pinkbike, please get in touch with Race Face and put up the finalists of all the Ultimate Freeride Challenges, specifically the one-armed hucker and the dude riding on cables. This is a great start, though
Thank you sooo much pinkbike for this. I remember when this was THE show for me on extreme sports tv back in the days. Have probably seen it 10 times, but I really belive I'll enjoy it most now. I really wanted to ride any of the bikes or trails they had but nothing compared to the freakin bus with flames that would take you to new epic trail every day. Actually, I still want that one
its not.. old school is like vintage... 20 years + is old school.. many things happen in 5 years from age 15.. i can see how everything is old school to them....
Tim please post the rest of seasons :-) Drop In got me stoked on biking! Get Dylan Tremblay and the boys back out shredding :-> watching Steve do that road gap was amazing !!
This show should still be on the air, just feature new riders each year who push the sport...What I wouldnt give to be on that bus touring and enjoying life, nature, people, the road.. I WANNT BE ON DROP IN!!! This show made my life seriously, Id run back home from school just to watch this and then try to shred my K2 Sesh BMX like a Djer. Ahhhh the good ol days, life flies by too quick, Huck it, Ride it, Whip it! **RideMoreBikes** Thanks a million for this post..
Glad you guys are still stoked on the show! I'll be posting more seasons right away. Subscribe and stay tuned. I'll keep everyone updated. There's a small chance we can bring the show back with new seasons!!!!
Thanks Tim for producing such an awesome series. As shown by the comments here, it was extremely influential to the mountain bike community. So many big name riders (mostly as they were just becoming known) were in the series or made guest appearances it's hard to count. I'm sure the exposure they got on Drop In helped many get noticed by far more fans and potential sponsors than they would have otherwise. Best mountain bike series ever!
I'm just happy there's still fans and interest! If we can show a broadcaster there's a lot of interest then we can put a plan together, choose the riders and get season 6 going! watch, share, and subscribe!
Awesome! Haven't seen season 1 in ages, this came out right around when I was getting into riding! Thanks a ton for posting, would love to see a new season!
And I know that because a guy I rode with named Satan Lee (I don't know his real first name, he could honestly be Satan though) had that same freaking setup back around that time period!!!
woohoo- word has it that the mainstream freeride movement was birthed right there on that very bus. I happened to be camping at Capilano campground in Vancouver when they were there back almost 15 years ago, I never forgot the favour that was entrusted to me from them guys. Thanks
OG! Lone wolf was a young'n in that loops seggy. I remember when Darren went down on that road gap, I have footage of that laying around somewhere still. One of the gnarlest crashes Ive ever witnessed. I Still vividly remember the sound of him landing on the roadā¦.
crazyness.. That fall was just un freakin real. I remember when i saw that episode back when I was like 12, dropped my jaw. Watch season 1 again today and I have even more of an appreciation for riding listenin to what some of these guys say, and go through. MADS respect and Love for you guys. Standing O!
I would like to start crowd sourcing for a documentary I will produce entitled "Where in the World is Dylan Tremblay?". The Film will feature interviews with contemporary professional mountain bikers and industry leaders and will track Dylan's inevitable descent into obscurity. Kind of like Searching for Sugarman... but with mountain biking.
I'm working on maybe bringing the show back to life! Easiest way to get it infront of a real broadcaster is show the size of following. this would be through YouTube subscriptions and likes on the Drop In facebook page www.facebook.com/dropintv
I still remember Darren Butler's crash in Kamloops getting coverage in the Calgary Herald newspaper before the episode aired. It blew my mind that guys were doing that on bikes.
This is THE reason I am into Mountain biking! FUCKING AWESOME! Please keep posting up more seasons, I wanna see Season 3 again, so much rad stuff went down that year!
Good skillz PB!!! Gutted season 6 never happened. best Mtb series ever!! My fave had to be season 4 in NZ with the NZ guy on the Santa Cruz having 'issues' with everyone. Loved that dude, complex cat but top rider Or was my fave season 3 with a young C Mac and all those north shore skinnies??
knobby tires on street, big burly DH rigs, 24" rears and a whole lotta Bomber action up front.
Those were the days.
I remember running outside after episode one, grabbing my bike and heading to the first bleachers I could find to practice some trisl moves like Denny.... on my XC bike!
Two weeks ago I got the chance to meet and have lunch with the now 'retired' Dylan Tremblay. It was super neat to ask all the questions I have been pressed to ask since I watched the show many years back. Then... Today as I was driving around town I see the old Drop In bus in someones back yard!!!! It still looks exactly the same!!
The most anticipated TV programme of my childhood! From the times when internet was not as easily accessible as today, from the times when it all began, the spark arouse and changed into a fire that's now burning inside me... thanks!
This show probably did so much for mountain biking by makin tons of new riders. Drop In was the reason i wanted to move to bc as a kid, and now i live in kelowna. would be so sick to see it brought back, would also be really good for the sport
Been watching these episodes all morning, had never seen drop in before! So cool , wish i woulda known about this series , maybe i would be better lol na, but thanks PB for puttin this up an makin my halloween morning badass!!!!!!!
I am so glad to see this up on pb.I have the dvd collection and my kids love watching Tyler, Dylan, Steve and all the other greats. This brings lots of great memories of the days we rode Vedder mt with all the gang. Very happy to hear the possibility of a comeback. ...
Cheers
Derek
I don't remember the exact season and episode, but there was one story that makes me laugh whenever I recall it. One of the guests to the crew, that rode a hardtail freeride bike with rear hydraulic rim brake was put into a large washing machine. They filmed it when he looked outside through the round window being rolled slowly inside the machine.
So awesome to see the bikes and tech from that day! Man am i glad I'm still riding. The Claw is classic in the Van Island episode! He looks so baked with his bandana and REALLY baggy jeans thrown 3's and seat gabs long before anyone else. No wonder Big D and the Freeride Entertainment crew have done so much together! The jumps look so loose too man those guys have that shit totally dialled now!
drop in old school an still totally awesome the old Norco team dh an the specialized bighit ultimate bomb proof rigs seem to be still going strong in these days bring bk the old school bikes more reliable than todays shit lol
Season 2 is going up on the YouTube channel: youtube.com/dropintvseries tomorrow AM. Subscribe and don't miss an episode as I re-release all the seasons!!
Have so much to thank this tv series for, knowing what to say when you're being filmed and ready to go, wanting to go 'BIG' and huck off anything, drooling over a specialized big hit of all bikes!
what tv mtb gold!
You can actually see how heavy those big bikes are when they pop off a little rise or lip and barely get em off the ground haha, but yeah, full credit, this is an awesome flashback!
Hey pb, hope you put up the rest of the seasons on the oncomin wks to come! Really enjoyed this throwback, me an im sure everyone else wants to see the rest of them!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
i spent so much of my life on the extreme sports channel on sky watching this and ride guide mountain bike show and then riding my bike over homemade jumps immediately afterwards.
DropIn TV Season I was the reason, why I switched from XC to FR and Street Riding. Back in the days... looove it! What happended to Dylan Tremblay? Was my idol!
watching one episode of this late night on TV after a hard night of partying is the reason I bought a mountain bike the next week and never looked back!
dude - i still sometimes walk by those stairs at McMahon and am blown away by that huck... you have to pedal pretty hard into it and make a slight adjustment to the left in order to not die.

That was actually 55 lbs...

This old stuff is much better.
Or was my fave season 3 with a young C Mac and all those north shore skinnies??
