The 2023 Downhill World Cup racing continues as we have the Junior qualifying session ahead of tomorrow's finals live broadcast.

Erice Van Leuven dominated the Junior Women's field as she crossed the line a huge 14.844 seconds ahead of Lisa Bouladou. The 2nd to 5th-placed riders would be separated by under a second in an incredibly close fight for the podium spots.

For the Junior Men Ryan Pinkerton is continuing to show he is the rider to beat as he went 1.993 seconds up on Evan Medcalf. Hugo Marini ended his run 3.3 back and was the only other rider within six seconds of the top time.

@Wing-nut: She always seems to take it right to the ragged edge of control and stay there, so her results are either massive annihilation of everyone else or a massive stack.
Doesn't seem to have much in between with her results?

Must be nice to be able to bounce back like that from crashes, any one of those she's had this season would probably have me off the bike for a year!
Getting old sux. :-(

Our Prime Minister said there will be a public Holiday on Monday if Froffa makes the final. Look it up! It's called Kings Holiday, after Joshy himself.

Pinkerton is obviously fast, but Asa has beat him a handful of times head to head. The kids are coming and they are fast.

Asa is scary fast. Pinkerton's time was faster than Loic in timed training - which means everything Wink

@douglasbruce: He's too young to race World Cup (Asa is 16). He's out here though. I've seen him around.

What on earth is going on when you order the junior women’s sector 3? It looks like it orders by seconds but ignores the minutes. The junior men’s sector 2 has all the times entirely in seconds by converting 1 minute into 60 seconds. Everyone in the junior women’s sector 2 has 1:_ _._ _ _ so that wasn’t an issue.

Thanks for spotting that, I have updated the table so all splits are in seconds. I think it should be fixed now.

It feels like yesterday I watched that video of Erice ripping up her local trails on that tiny rigid Pinkbike. It blows my mind every time I see a race result from her Jackson was one, now my old lady brain is processing Erice racing on the world stage. Amazing

So, who actually qualified for semis?
  • 4 0
There are no semi-finals for Juniors, but it is the top 10 women and top 25 men who go through to finals.

@edspratt: ah, didn't know they have no semis for juniors.

Thanks for clarifying the number of riders going through to finals.
