The Trance is a way better deal. My dad has the Trance 29 3 with Deore and it's a super solid build. Someone could buy that bike and not change a single component and happily ride it for years.

Yeah I would think the extra padding that's in contact with your head would a bigger difference in adding heat than the chinguard which is quite open. It's like you've added 95% of what makes a full face hotter without the benefit of having a full face.

It's not a flat foot position. The pedal spindle is still much closer to the ball of your foot than your heel. You still get plenty of involvement of the heel joint. There's also not too many sports I can think of where you always support your weight solely through the balls of your feet. If you land from a dunk in basketball the front of your foot will touch down then the heel. You're not dropping 30+" then keeping your heel off the ground.

Pinkbike Poll: Riser Bar or Extra Spacers Under the Stem?
It weirds me out how many mountain bikers are unaware of the change to effective stem length. They swear by their short stem then put a riser bar on with the rise rolled vertical to "maintain reach", totally oblivious they're doing the same thing as adding spacers and a longer stem.
