Shimano XT Di2 Review: Great Shifting, But Where’s the Clutch?
The precise, fast shifting is actually so nice. It just feels right. Finally ran low on battery after over 20-25hrs of XC riding, and it lets you know by disabling multishift. Still ran it for a few hours to try and drain it to zip, but it held on nicely. Pretty sweet to know it'll reduce power to get you home when it counts. The lack of clutch is noticeable though. The chain slap hasn't been a huge concern for me, but on the other hand, the cage swings back with a thud on large impacts. It's wild how audible and tactile the sensation is. Not a deal-breaker on a short travel bike by any means. However, I'd be interested to see of any "hacks" or diy projects to slow down the cage's movement. I'm sure there's some tinkering going on, but it might still be early days.

@d-jo: Yeah, I can confirm that! Audio isn't dubbed in. I think what you're hearing as "fake" is some of the sound design elements and music, all the bike noise is real. Totally a personal taste though, respect the opinion.

Shouts to the people there and putting on for Stevie, but come on man. absolutely ZERO shade towards athletes who couldn’t make it, there’s a lot of ways to represent Stevie’s legacy and this is just one of them. You’d be incredibly hard pressed to find a single rider who doesn’t show love to Stevie, and putting down those who had commitments for one specific weekend of the year is missing the point. Be proud that we have BC athletes at a global level paying their dues, and let sleeping dogs lie.
