In Emil Johansson’s latest video “Immersed”, we gain an insight into the Slopestyle pros lifestyle and what he does to stay at the top of the sport. The 21-year-old lives for the outdoors and has a focus on details when it comes to staying healthy, helped by the data from Suunto 9 sports watch.

A pro athlete is used to deal with pain and sometimes it’s hard to get a proper feeling about true body condition or even knowing when it’s time to train or rather recover. Emil made errors like this in the past and often used to train too much instead of resting. He started using his Suunto watch to get information on his heart rate variability as well as his sleep and recovery state. “Immersed” is about Emil’s lifestyle, and living MTB 24/7 in the pursuit of health and performance. The Suunto 9 watch helps him to keep on track and to stay where he is – at the top of the sport.

bigquotes“I often overtrained my body in the past with lots of sessions both on and off the bike, so I’ve started to use the Suunto watch a long time ago. I felt it was the best way for me to get a second opinion on the condition of my body. I'm stoked to turn this into a partnership, and to keep me progressing in the most effective way.”Emil Johansson

bigquotes“We are good at supporting adventures – and what Emil has been through has certainly been quite a journey for him. He does not need a watch to win a Slopestyle contest but the data we provide makes sure he is well prepared for it. Happy to see him shred like never before.”Antti Laiho, Global Brand Marketing Manager Suunto

You can see he's a professional Mountainbiker because he is able to drop into the trail right after getting up and having a short breakfast. Every normal person would crash first corner when going that fast early morning :-)

After breakfast, specifically coffee, I have morning paperwork to do. So if I dropped in before said work was done... it would happen on the climb...

Looks like pretty short days up there... Wake up, have a breakest, 3hour ride, sunset and dinner Smile

Sounds like a normal person's day without the work part. Thus pretty nice.

I got sponsored by Garmin, they said they might reimburse me later.

Wondering how he got the hr scan on his watch working this accurate Big Grin My Suunto 9 totally sucked:P

I have the Garmin Fenix 5 and I don't think it's much better. It does the job, but my guess is mountain biking bumps the watch around too much. If I want accuracy I need to use the HR strap.

you're probably wearing your on your wrist trying to read YOUR heart rate. His is clearly on the handlebar measuring the bike's heart rate. Common mistake.

I have a Suunto. I've found the HR to be wildly inaccurate and pretty much just use it to track rides.

Makes me want to go in the woods with my bike.

That was some weird music for riding.

It's not everyday that you get roast for breakfast!

How did they make an amazing rider like Emil look frankly a little bit dull and same same? The guy is a magician on a bike! I'm a little less interested in how he makes coffee.

That was a terrible Ad for a watch. Maybe... coffee? camp gear? down filled vests?

Seriously. I'm actually a big fan of Suunto and have owned a bunch of their watches. Aside from showing some of the screens and data it really wasn't clear what they were advertising. I've gone to using a Garmin for riding though after several years of using Suunto Ambit and Spartan watches. The screen is way easier to read on my Edge 830 and Trailforks integration is really nice when exploring new trails. The bike mounts for watches are pretty bad too from my experience. Suunto doesn't really seem like they've put that much effort into supporting biking, which is a shame. They make great watches. It'd be cool if they started making more bike specific computers.

All that foley and they couldn't remove the brake howl?
