The Enduro World Series kicks off in Chile and things do not go according to plan, at least not for Curtis. The mountainous terrain and high altitude of Nevados de Chillan aren't the only challenges Curtis faces in his first EWS race of 2014... and as other top racers get off to a solid start, Curtis grows more determined than ever.
That’s a model attitude when things don’t go your way: realistic but optimistic. Also good was how they spent time on the other top riders giving credit where it’s due. Great video series!
Very compelling, I wish it were longer. Looking forward to the next one. Also that double exposed intro is very reminiscent of HBO's True Detective intro.
Having raced at a relatively high level way back I think this really gives a good idea of what goes on in a dedicated racer's mind & of all the passion necessary to take on hardcore bike comps, may you land on the podium or not.
Definitely looking forward to see next episode.
Damn I'm so pumped up after watching this - I have to go ride singletrack asap.
this is one of the best mtb series mainly for how it reflects the true feeling of a racer ...amazing job the "true detective" style opener is nice too......
Really great footage and roundup! That into sequence has to be one of the best in a mountain bike vid that I can recall. Really well put together.
I couldn't really work out who the series is intended for though. It seems a middle ground for between someone who loves MTB and someone who's never seen a bike before. If it for the general MTB community then it is a bit over dramatic and patronising at times :/
Also bugs me that they knock XC at the start and make the bold claim at the end that whoever wins the EWS will be "the best overall mountainbiker". MTB is far bigger than enduro!
P.S. "Thoracic" vertebrae, not "Dorsal" vertebrae. Maybe it's just some weird US language that's behind the times
True Detective intro? But hey... good artists copy great artists steal. It looks good. However, it seems that Curtis needs some time to adopt and adapt to the lifestyle of an World Cup XC racer.
"Jonny owned the universe in 1984. The universe was, to him, the wealthier part of the San Fernando Valley (and not that Sh#$hole Reseda) but it was his first and, he hoped, last horizon. High school was a non-stop carnival of Cobra Kai karate classes, make-out sessions with Ali (his hottie girlfriend), and doled-out skull-bashings to any spindly nerd crossing his swaggering path.
But his universe flickered senior year. First, Ali dumped him. Then, a skinny, olive-skinned Santa Monica A$$hole named Curtis Keene appeared. Worse, it looked like he and Ali were flirting, hooking up…right in front of him!
He and his Cobra Kai buddies tuned up Keene as best they could. At first on the beach, and then a night-time knuckle-session outside the high school's Halloween dance. Johnny had been smoking some righteous ging, and for a second felt like he might actually be able to kill Curtis. Hadn't his Cobra Kai instructor always said, "An enemy deserves no mercy?" There were times, when he was deeply stoned, that Jonny wished he were a cobra. All sleek, and smooth, and leathery. Beyond speech and remorse, and kept in a crate." - Patton Oswald
@thomaswalker, what? Are you ripping on Keene via some incomprehensible Karate Kid reference? I'm not even sure what you were trying, but it made no sense.

Is that why our bikes cost so gd much?
