My "local" bike park!! So lucky this is only an hourish drive away. Biking in a National park is a blessing and is its own beautiful network... but we can't truly build here, so the Valemount gang has created such an amazing space for fun and progression. The trails, town and people are full of character, and are more than welcoming. If you have not been go!! Don't forget to put a little something in the donation box, you will see that money put into the park. I ride Valemount

I was surprised it didn't mention whether the trails were uplifted by cable car, bike park van uplift, or you could uplift yourself on fire roads. Or is it only a peddle up option? Makes a big difference if you bring the DH bike! Can you explain please?

@notphaedrus: there's a very good shuttle van and the public road can be driven by pretty much any vehicle. There are a few up trails to about mid way up I think.

Funny thing, Valemont, Revelstoke, and a bunch of other places in the Columbia have had their trails built with US money. Way back a bunch of dams were built to prevent flooding in Washington state, those dams flooded a bunch of valleys in BC. The compensation for that has paid for a ton of community projects over the years. So when the border is open, come up and ride the trails you paid for.

@kclw: Hey it's a better use of our money than having the Justice department fending of sexual harassment lawsuits from the president. By all means spend it on trails that at least some nice Canadians will get to enjoy.

Hope to make it up there some day, I really do. Spent a long weekend in Vancouver about a decade ago before I got into mountain bikes, coulda hit the North Shore dammit!!

We ride all over BC every summer and Valemount is the best weekend of riding we get every year, rain or shine. We've been making the trip for about 5 years now and every year when you think it can't get better, it gets better.

Just got back from a 6 day visit to Valemount . . I didn't expect too much , I thought i would just be riding a bunch of generic machine build trails , but I got proven wrong , big time !!! All the trails are very well build ,with lots of unique features and great flow. Normally I don't like riding flow trails that much but I really liked the work the trail crew did in Valemount ! Great job guys !!

Oh man I don't know what to do. I didn't even bother watching the video first I just scrolled down to the comments and there weren't any. But I did watch the video. And when I used to work in fort Mac I used to drive through Jasper and I love that stretch of the highway in BC before you hit Alberta. When I lived in Costa Rica there was this old guy that was 90 years old that had the best stories and he was from Vailmount. It's such a beautiful area out there and now it'll be on the summer road trip when the boys come out from Ontario next time

That sounds like my Grandpa Bob Beeson, he spent every winter in CR until he was 98, mostly Playa del Coco and he basically built Valemount ???? we’re just trying to continue his legacy, as well as that of the other pioneers of the valley, creating community and doing it instead of Just talking about it!

@donniebumblebeeson: That was him! I was a dive instructor in Coco for 5 years and 'Abuelo' was always a welcome addition every winter. I moved back to Kelowna and a few years later we were visiting and staying at the Coco Palms and he hadn't come down that year. We were worried but then he came walking through the entrance to the courtyard and told everyone, 'Sorry I'm late.' He had a problem with his O2 tank or his attendant and had to delay his visit until it was sorted.

I'll have to look you up if I work Valemount into next year's road trip.

Always stop on my way out to bc lift access bike parks to warm up. Normally when i pass by its golden hour and my ass I numb from driving so long, so it be a tradition to stop and hit two runs to break up my drive, as I head farther west. Have been wanting to spend more time out there just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I got drinking with the locals on happy hour at the log and rail bar a couple years back, heading to whistler for a couple days riding a rental, coming from Bamf / Jasper, no bike just me n the mrs. One of the guys insisted I borrow his bike and ride the trails the following day. not used to just how 'kin friendly the Canadian people are I didn't take him up on the offer. Doh!

Valemount is amazing! The trail builders are so skilled, the people and bike community are amazing, and the onsite shuttle service (Peak Shuttles) makes for such a rad experience. Definitely recommend making the trip up....only 3 hours from Kamloops!!

Valemount gives any lift accessed resort a run for its money. For the North Thompson Valley it is a true gem, and the trails are such a treasure. Anybody looking for an awesome bike trip will have to make Valemount a stop, and keep on heading down and check out our trails in Clearwater!

There’s been talk of building a mega resort in Valemount. I think it has local support and environmental approval. Just needs money and an airport I think ...? Anyone local know?

I love that town and hope that resort eventually happens for them. They do have a little airport but that's going to be a bit of a challenging valley to get a better approach in and out of with Canoe Mtn and the rest of the huge peaks around.

For a while valemount was just a place you drove through to get to the Rockies. Now with the brewery and new trails it's a great place to visit

There is a lot of great riding in Vernon and other places about an hour or less drive time. Kelowna is pretty awesome aswell as Penticton.
