Pinkbike & Trailforks Continue Partnership With Sea Otter Classic Through 2023

The final stage of the day took racers down the dual slalom track.

Beginning in 2020, Pinkbike, Trailforks, and CyclingTips have entered into a 4-year agreement through 2023 with the Sea Otter Classic as the Official Media and Mapping Partner of the event.

Entering its 30th year at the Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California, the Sea Otter Classic began as the Laguna Seca Challenge in 1991 with 350 athletes and 150 spectators. Now a four-day event, the Sea Otter Classic brings in almost 10,000 athletes and 74,000 fans. It is the only celebration of cycling that incorporates all riding disciplines and all cycling product categories wrapped up in a four-day experience. It is hard to see and do it all. So successful is the Sea Otter Experience, it is now presented in Europe (Girona, Spain) and Canada, (Blue Mountain Resort, Ontario). Sea Otter also announced the addition to another festival, now in the southern hemisphere. Sea Otter Australia - is set to debut at Canberra’s Stromlo Forest Park on 2-5 October 2020.

 Sea Otter needs to have a legit area to demo bikes. They should use Toro Park down the road and have bike manufacturers set up there.

 Hey, why not. Most bike manufacturers are trying to show their secret, unreleased bike models over there anyway. Why not just eliminate a step and let us ride the mega-new stuff that isn't even out yet!

 you seem to think that most people are capable of riding Toro....lol. while it's nothing gnartastic, it's over the heads of ~90% of SOC attendees.

 It's a space issue with so many concurrent races taking place and it's also a major hassle for MFGs logistically. YT did it a couple of years ago and told me there really aren't that many unused trails for ppl to ride. Also, industry folks at SOC just want to party and rightfully so. The E-Bike companies have demos but they have their own course.

 @endlessblockades: the climb has been called shit hill for as long as I can remember, been riding Toro since before bikes were allowed. If you can climb it with out stopping I'll definitely call ya a badass!

 @endlessblockades: hate the climb as well usually end up pushing my bike up the steepest part!!!! Worth the ride down for sure. Best trail I know of in the area. Fort ord is pretty good.

 @endlessblockades: There are no races at Toro Park which is why I suggested it. All the races are at Fort Ord where Sea Otter is taking place. I'm sure YT was talking specifically about Fort Ord park. Toro Park and Fort Ord are totally different parks and trail systems that are about 3 miles from each other.

 @conoat: Likely 90% of the people at Sea Otter wouldn't demo bikes. Also, Toro Park is novice to intermediate trails. A 120mm trail bike could handle everything at that park. Even an 100mm XC bike could handle it.

 @twowheelmotion: All the other major bike trade shows had outside dirt demos like Interbike and Eurobike. Sea Otter is basically an outdoor trade show for the public.

 The climb at Toro park is not that bad at all. Not that long and not that steep.

 @tacklingdummy: Nah, climb to the bench up above Pipeline. A good climb. As far as demo venue, either Toro or Fort Ord [Sea Otter] would work, they just need to make a priority & place for it.

 Also, SOC - I just registered to race and the Active site is still a major pain in the ass and tries to trick you into singing up for an $89 auto-charge on your CC at the end.

 We don’t have any otters native to AZ. They’d have to change the name to desert tortoise or something.

 @endlessblockades: Once found a scorpion out side a Tesco supermarket in Scotland, may have been plastic or dead, but could not find a suitably long stick to poke it to see if it was real & or dead!

 @aljoburr: No they like colder water. They are wearing heavy jackets. I see them all the time on and they are very interesting creatures. They each carry a stone in a pouch under their arm to crack open the mollusks and shellfish. Swat tool carrier technology.
