Eagle National Highlight Reel
In this video I was more trying to catch the emotion and human element behind riding.

jimbsport. i'd like to see you try it. For anyone to say they hate the end is ridiculous. A frontflip tailwhip is taking mtb to a whole new level.

If I tried it I would crash, but I sure as hell would'nt run through the crowd like I cured cancer or nailed Meagan Fox. I might run back to the top and try it again though.

He had tried it 4 times before this which were no way near as close as this, so getting this close, fair god effort

juniordh, its in adelaide australia,,
and the only reason people ride demos is because they rock!! and sam hill is madd haha,,
great vid VOD for sure

Look at the old bikes and specs. The Demo's have changed and they now rock. Even if Hill wasn't riding them, if they made the same changes to the 2010 bikes I'm sure heaps of people would still buy them.

yeah i know that. before 2010 model with new geo had been released people already said that oh yeah demo rocks, this is not just freeride bike , thats pure dh machine. U know why ... because Sam was just signed with specialzied.
Same thing with with IH. If sam has one..everyone has one
- - 2
No. You're wrong. People don't buy them just because Sam rides one. I want a Sunday because I have ridden a load, and they are one of the best bikes I've felt. That is what sells bikes, not the people riding them. Sure, Sam is going to sell a few more bikes for Specialized, but most people that are in the market for a Downhill bike aren't going to buy one purely because the WC overall winner rides one. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
Btw, the Demo 9 and Demo 8 were always DH bikes. I never saw them as a freeride bike. The Demo 7 however...

you cant judge all people by looking at yourself can u. Just because u didnt see them as a freeride bikes doesnt meen that all people are just like u

1. Sunday's have good geometry and poor reliabiltiy of bearings and linkages.
2. Demo's used to have shit geometry for DH and be heavy. They are now less heavy with less shit geometry for DH.
3. Sam hills sunday's and Demo's all had custom geo and were made specifically for him.
4. Whatever Sam Hill rides will have an added cool factor to bikes he doesn't. Pablos is right: Thats how sponsorship works.

Sam Hill's sunday was completely custom with different length top-tube etc; the demo he rides now is stock geo except for using 150mm rear spacing.

Oh, don;t get me wrong, I'm not one of those "I hate Sam Hill" people, just pointing out a fact...
And the Demo's this year DO look unreal.

Ice man 8. That is not true. That is what Specialized originally said, but surprise, surprise, when the production 2010 demos came out it was not the same as the final factory bikes that Hill and Fairclouth ride. Just look at the stated BB height on the Spesh website - Hill's demo does NOT have a 14.48" high bb. Not even close! Team bikes are lower and slacker than production.

Sam Hill would destroy both of you on your OWN bikes!! Lol, that argument is sooooo funny!!! He could ride a sesh 88, Sunday, Demo or Commencal... it is HIM that is fast!!

Well said above; obviously geo is going to save a couple of seconds but its the rider that wins or looses a race. There are plenty of bikes out there with race-winning set up. And the old demo 8s were strong as fook and hence amazing for freeride but I know plenty of people who killed it racing on them. And willsoffe it may be a little slacker but no where near as modded as his sunday; I rode with Fairclouth out in morzine this year. But don't get me wrong sundays are rad bikes.

^^^ I totally agree. Its the rider not the bike. Any high end dh bike will do the trick and world cup riders could all switch bikes and still kill it. The demo does have different geo now but that is just so Sam is more comfortable. He would post the same times on older models.

I ride mainly DJ so not so not up on the geo of DH rigs but I have become OBSESSIVE about the geo on DJ bikes but still know that I will have to get used to whatever bike I ride. When I make mistakes I know its my fault, not the bike's fault.
I'm sure we'd all have our own geo setup if we could afford to pay someone to make a custom bike for us, but when I'm pelting over rocks at 30mph I'm not thinking "ooo, I wish this seat angle was a degree slacker"

i think your all fucking stupid about argueing over what bike is better its an opinion you arent gunna change and bikegod one you dont even get it this video isnt about the biking its about the atmosphere of biking and how awesome it is that such a simple thing such as a bike, no matter what kind, brings people together to compete and have fun with what we do and maybe even make money doing it

@Russtransition: I am well aware that Hill would beat me on any bike.
@Kickass cactus: Hill would not post the same times on a stock Demo. He would post slower times on a stock Demo. Are you telling me that specialized went to all the time and expense of making custom geo frames for no reason?

He would only be a couple of seconds slower max. Its just at the top level that makes about 15 places difference I guess. He would still whip any of us on a stock demo...
- + 1
Yes he could! But the point is geometry and tiny differences ARE that important. Of course it's rider skill that matters, but if you're compensating for flaws in the bike it's going to slow you down and DH is a race, it's all about speed. People regularly pay £1000's just to have a bike part or piece of kit, and hours on bike set up if it helps them go a few seconds faster.

Just to dig up old shit - Did anyone know the closest bike geo wise to Hills custom sunday is the 17" 224?
