It looks like he has them cut to a comfortable width that suits his personal needs. He also has wide shoulders, the guy is a tank

narow bars are for perfomance but the control goes a bit down tbh
wider bars are for serious and breath taking tracks if you watchbrandon semenuk's xo riding for "wandering" you will notice that he is also riding with narow bars

i have riden narow bars for a while and tbh it makes you piss your pants on rock gardens and root sections also in serious dh tracks
