wait wait wait wait.... let me get this straight.
this is basically giving you 1.6x the pedal performance you're already putting out? so say you're pedaling and are at a speed of say... 20mph, you turn the thing-a-ma-jigger on and it makes you go faster?
am i understanding this correctly or am i wrong, some1 help me out.

thats exactly what it does! its the same as shifting in to you big ring. this the flippin awesome!

thats sick. now im just curious if it has the same resistance as shifting into the higher ring. cuz naturally, you shift into a higher ring, you have to put more effort into it, and i would expect the same because you're still changing the gearing. hmm, i am definitely interested though!
excellent idea on behalf of Truvativ's part. Might just have to get a pair!

of course u have to put more effort into pedalling when u shift, gabe. The Hammerschmidt just replaces the front derailleur and does exactly the same in practical terms, just in a different way. It's not some kind of booster

Now they need to come up with a similar system to replace the rear deraileur & cassette so the chain will always be in the same position in the rear... Now that would be chillin...

sturmey-archer made internal hubs, which gave the rider between three and five gears in an internal hub, from 1903 until fairly recently. (www.sheldonbrown.com/sturmey-archer.html) Rohloff makes 14 (I think) speed internal hubs now. They just might cost more than your bike.

very similar workings to the insides of geared hubs... as far as i know the only one of which worth getting is the rollhoff (or however its spelt) and that costs an absolute bomb... i have a shimano nexus internal hub on my beach cruiser, so its not exactly been hammered and ive still managed to break the pins. i can see its a nice idea but i think people are gonna break them left right and center and be left with a much lighter wallet...

that looks so good.
gee it would be awesome.
too bad kona didn't put ISCG tabs on my bike. arrrggghhh

yeah it should do because there are no moving parts on the outside, so it would be like running fully singlespeed, although i think there wud be a big gap between the gears though...
