Taipei Cycle Show: Post 1

Post One from the Taipei Cycle Show ...

I took over 550 pictures at the show today. After walking around all day I have to admit I am pretty tired. With so much to see it is hard to know where to start. I am just on my way to bed but I wanted to post up something before I go to sleep.

Pics inside,Yesterday I was lucky enough to build up the Banshee Legend MKII Show Bike. I will not waste a bunch of time with words. Here are some pictures ...

The build includes wheels from Crank Brothers, Tires from WTB, parts from Straitline, Suspension from Cane Creek and Manitou, Brakes from Hayes, Bar from FUNN, Cranks from Race Face ... Probably the most expensive bike that I have ever had to build, and I did not even get to test ride it.

I also have what I understand to be the first pictures of the finished Hayes Prime brake. The brakes that I got to take pictures of are one of six brakes sets to come off tool pieces. They will be available in June of this year and they look amazing. Enjoy ...

Features of these brakes include:

Poppet Cam - deadstroke adjustment, increased fluid flow, improved durability.
Top Hat Reach Adjustment - consistent power throughout stroke, regardless of lever position.
New Light Weight Rotor.
Tool-Free Reach Adjust - one the fly adjustment
Top Loading Pads - easy to change pads without removing the wheel.
New Pad material and design.

If there is anything you want to see, send me a message. I have pictures of some DH bikes, forks ... but let me know what you want to see.

Keep Riding,

Rob Dunnet

 Agree 100%!
  • 43 29
Its a Banshee with a Manitou fork. I hope you don't cream your pants that easily.
  • 37 9
What are you, stuck in 2005?
  • 41 3
Manitou and Hayes are two names that dont get me all that excited. Oh and why the mint green chain guide? seems like after all the coin invested in that show bike they'd got something that followed their colour scheme.
  • 6 2
Haha good call, Banshee Chapparal is no more!
  • 9 1
'Hayes' and 'Prime' in the same sentence...discuss. and it is Kawasaki Green. Sliders come in Red and other colors also...
  • 8 2
The green is stock but they could have spent the $20 for the red ones
  • 8 5
eww at the hayes breaks, drool at the rest.
  • 4 4
 beyond pimp.
  • 4 1
 weight?
  • 3 2
 agreed with runner
  • 9 1
that bike is pretty dope. However the phrase of banshee+manitou was a very clear indication of low intellegence.. Manitou is a completely different ball game now and Banshee can be hailed as a world class bike. The straitline guide needs the red addition, but other then that, that bike is mega sexy
  • 5 0
Atrak, good to see someone here who isn't riding the single lane mindset. The new hayes brakes look pretty nice, and the Manitou has had an age of good development, its a world class fork. You just can't say that's not a nice bike, its about 5 times as nice as 90% of the people's bike's here, including mine. The frame looks dope! Smile
  • 8 2
those dam manitous have the color scheme of a Budweiser bottle makes em look old no offense to the beer
  • 2 2
Banshee and Manitou are in the same warehouse, therefore the manitou for them is a no brainer. Everyone is putting down how shitty manitou is, but the truth is probably less than 10% of pinkbike users have ridden the new manitou dorado. Its a nice looking bike, and I know someone with almost that exact set up. They are inlove with the manitou. And for everyone scrolling down these comments and reading them, the straitline guide comes with the green out of the box, but like one smart pb user said above, red sliders are available for the guide.
  • 1 1
I ride with a buddy who has the new Dorado and he loves it, he rides it as hard as anyone can and it seems to love the beating. Maybe I will try it next ride, tomorrow or Friday and see how it feels for myself. I bet it feels good.
  • 1 2
did banshee will be at the world cup this year? because manitou its not anymore with intense.
probably because its a shed. I had one and I was totally disapointed of it sure that I change it quick for a fox 40 and now no complains
  • 1 1
Cusco, which of those bikes is yours xP
  • 1 0
 cane creek and manitou?
how about marz and still be in the color
and avid breaks and e13 red guide
  • 1 0
I have a Giant Glory 09 at the moment , liveless
  • 4 1
i recon its awesome, i disagree with people up top whinging bout different things, its using uncommon parts, being unique and thats further pointed out with the chain device colour, i love that stuff! bets shes worth a few shiny pennies
  • 7 3
get saint brakes on there instead of the hayes and a fox 40 or boxxer instead of the manitou's and it would be even better Smile
  • 5 3
Ok! I agree, it's a super nice setup but I my opinion i'll prefer other parts. Silver Deemax instead of this Opium Wheels, Fox 40 or Boxxer WC instead of the Dorado. The Chaniguide is ugly like my daugther.....an E13 LG1 is even better. Diabolus Cranks are so heavy, Saint Cranks would save some weight. Better a Code or Elixir, so you now what you have for your money
  • 5 0
dude u just compaired your daugter to a chain guide on the iternet......and called her ugly all in the same sentance
  • 2 0
 haha! was just a joke, I don't have a daugther Wink !
  • 5 1
I would ride it. You all sound like snobby little brats. Its like nit-picking a Porsche 911 cuz you dont like the color. Just go rip it!!!!!!
  • 3 1
Word on the street is that the new Dorado cost about $2,000 and has to be rebuilt after a few rides. If people are gonna blow their loads over a Banshee try looking at the yeti 303DH or the intense 951. The model bikes for those are worth getting your pants wet for.
  • 1 1
There's no way it has to be rebuilt that much and the retail for the carbon dorado is actually $3000. But I do agree that the 303DH and 951 are way nicer
  • 2 1
i think they have brought out 2 versions of the fork, one is carbon and the other... im not to sure but i want to say titanium... could be wrong though.
  • 1 0
oh ya theres an aluminum version I think its the one thats $2000
  • 1 0
yeah i wonder what the actual weight difference is between the 2?
  • 1 0
 only about 70g.
  • 1 0
is it really worth it then i mean there is a big price difference for 70g!?
  • 1 0
Only 70 grams! Wtf the carbon version must be way stiffer than or else there's no point at all
  • 1 0
carbon in mountain bikes is never about reducing weight, as most carbon frames are heavier than Al counterparts... as always it is all about show!
  • 2 0
beautiful bike, beautiful build, say what you will, good or bad, it all comes down to preferance. Hell id put a Monster T on it just to hear all of complain...lol...so personally i would change 1 thing, Diabolus to Atlas. cheers
  • 4 1
Those Hayes calipers look like total copies of the Hope V2 and the Hope M4, but not as nice of course. Doubt they work as well either...
  • 3 1
and i dont know y people hate the forks them r sick never was a inverted fork fan but them look sick on there and the grren guid is like the tramp stamp on the sexyst ride ever
  • 3 2
Same friggin bike shown for the last three years but with a different paint job. Most pimped pre-prodiction bike ever. Loose the colour matched wheels unless you plan on riding it in a circus. The best looking Banshee Legend was the polished raw and black one with the anodize linkages that debuted this time 2 years ago.
  • 4 0
really a nice bike, the fork is so fabulous looking on this banshee
  • 3 2
Man, thats a good looking bike. Dont care for the fork so much (would take it though) but it looks great none the less.
Hey, Home Team. Could you post some other great pix of some dh biks please(-:

  • 1 0
what is up with the chain guide it looks like a few rock gardens later and the chain will be jammed under it
  • 2 1

  • 1 2
 No more centralizing? Please explain!

  • 1 1
you know mike, that really hurts Razz
  • 2 0
Hahaha. For some reason, I actually like it on your bike. But on this bike? Too much red and gold. And then, what? A horrible looking green.

I like the mint color you have. But hate this color.
  • 1 0
haha, im just giving you shit man i agree with you, and that chainguide...looks like you will be getting a ton of drag with that
  • 1 0

  • 1 0
weight for price they aren't that great.
  • 1 1
a Wheelset that weighs in at 2012 grams and costs just over $1000, that is dirt cheap. dt swiss fr 2350's weigh more and cost twice the price.
  • 1 0
ummm.... the dt's are not twice the price. quit talking out of your ass.
  • 1 0
Ummmm... a bit over 1000 per wheel for the dt's
and crankbros are keeping the whole set at around 1000
