I’m lucky enough to ride bikes all over the world, all year. I compete, I race a little, and I love the off season building and riding in Santa Cruz. No matter what I’m doing on a bike, it's for fun. Don’t get me wrong, I take competing seriously - but only because I take fun very seriously. Without good and great times, I wouldn’t be driven to ride bikes. So here's my trail bike video.

Pivot Mach 6

Yes, its a cutting edge, six inch travel, highly capable up and down 27.5 bike. But we're gonna avoid the “E” word, here. Regardless of what other people choose to do with their bike, or how they pass their time, I ride trail bikes to enjoy the ups and the downs of my beautiful country between the serious moments in the summer and winter.

Pivot Mach 6

In this adventure, I headed up into the beautiful northern California countryside and did some good old #campinsleepin and #freeridekickouts. There's nothing like breaking a bit of a sweat exploring new trails and coming out of corners not knowing what's next on the trail. So, if for nothing else, I ride my trail bike for adventure's sake.

Pivot Mach 6

Have fun out there.
-Jeff

That was the best thing I've seen in awhile. And I saw some pretty nice titties last night.

Bikes beat boobs, sometimes, always, never

At the end of the vid as he's walking toward the sea I actually shouted "don't do it"!
Great vid and even nicer looking rig!

Love my Mach 6, but I'm about 340 degrees shy of a 360 on it. So far...

guy runs on seriously black coffee!
  • 4 0
Those moka pots make some seriously delicious espresso
  • 3 0
Dang!! Now I'm gonna have to get one, thanks for letting us know what kind of pot it was!!
  • 3 0
Yeah dude they're great. If/when you get one, use it on low heat. Takes more time, but the flavor is best and you get less sludge in the coffee. If you brew it too fast and shoot boiling water into it the taste gets really nasty. Takes some time/patience to get it right, but you can take it camping, and I wasn't about to buy a $100+ espresso machine Razz

For me the camp food shots and Grateful Dead tunes really rounded it out nicely. Pretty nimble trail riding is somewhat of an understatement.

Nice video. Definitely made me want to get out and ride.

I find it strange that all of the still photos hide the drivetrain...
  • 3 1
Thats because the 'E' word he was trying to avoid was electric, perhaps.
  • 2 0
I had assumed the 'E' word was enduro, but could be wrong!
  • 2 0
Yes "enduro", you can see the shimano derailluer in the rear hub shot. Great edit.
  • 3 0
The Lost Coast ya man! Sweet edit
  • 1 1
Any idea where these trails are?
  • 1 2
Go to Redway, CA… take the road to Shelter Cove… last ridge before dropping into the cove you'll see a large BLM sign on the right… follow the dirt road either to the designated TrailHead or continue on to the campground where you can access the bike park and trail.
Paradise Royale!
And soon… as in a couple of years I hope… a new trail out Hwy 299 (Arcata to Redding route), an hour or so from Arcata… similar to PR! Smile
.
.
p.s. the video above mixes in shots not from the trail… like the beach… but it's close!
Take water… always a chance the campground will not have any.

  • 2 0
Mmmm, now I want it to be daylight so I can go ride.
  • 1 0
Buy a good light (or two)! Rides are great during the day, but an absolute BLAST at night. Plus, you lose all you landmark references due to limited view, so it's like you have to re-learn a trail you've ridden thousands of times before!
