First look Nukeproof's custom Mega AM 275
Counting down the days until the first round of the UCI mountain bike World Cup? Yep, so are we! This episode should tide you over for a while with a first look Nukeproof's custom Mega AM 275 frame that's been designed at the request of Sam Hill for the first round of the World Cup in South Africa. You have to see this frame, it's so good! Sticking with the MTB theme we also have an exclusive look at the new Scrub saddle from the Nukeproof Sam Hill Signature Series.

Here's the custom Mega AM 275 frame ready for testing before the guys head to South Africa.

So how does it differ from the standard enduro-focussed platform? Well, it’s got a longer top tube, the head tube’s been slackened to 63 degrees and the seat tube’s been dropped. You’ll also notice that the head tube gusset has been strengthened to cope with the bigger hits on the South Africa track too.

There’s a chance to win this Nukeproof Sam Hill Signature Series Mud saddle in this week’s show too!

So... We can't have that sweet frame but lucky for us Sam Hill has a signature saddle instead... Wtf

probably the saddle is as expensive as the bike frame just because it says sam hill

No offence pinkbike but this has been on the Dirt website for 2 weeks with 2 vids talking to page and the riders about it. I love all the Mtb websites but it shocks me how behind you all our in different items. Most people having watched to much porn already check here Vital and Dirt. I'm still waiting for the Trek 27.5" article you have all the pics for if you know where to look.

I think the dirt website article was created by dirttv so they are bound to have it featured on their website.

As for been slow with news I think pinkbike is ahead of dirt 90% of the time.

The frame looks really sweet! Though the fact companies are developing AM frames for downhill world cup races sounds wrong to me Frown Here comes 29" downhill bikes with 80mm of travel, back to 1990s!

this is just a sign that we need more tracks that are far harder on bikes. i cant see people ever taking a 6" bike down fort bill if they have access to a top end 8" DH bike. when was the last time a course was designed specifically for a world cup/champs. just think what you could create with a blank canvas.

Exactly what I was trying to say..so far we seem to be turning towards some kind of high-speed gravity assisted XC tracks, lets bring in some rocks again Frown Or perhaps we just need a new discipline and call it with some fancy marketing name, ride big rocks with that and sell DH bikes under that name..

Let all the companies play with new cool stuff this is how bikes evolve and get tested, its like F-1. Lets just hope UCI stays out of it!

I don't really mind them developing and evolving stuff (even though I feel best on 26" and am worried about their future accessibility), but UCI makes people race downhill world cup on flat tracks, and bike companies are developing bikes for such tracks. Even the almighty North Shore is getting dumbed down, and for really technical stuff you are left with old trails, with new trails being built for begginner riders (don't get me wrong, we sure need such trails for people getting to the sport!), and troubles even maintaining the old gnarly pieces that actually challenge someone more experienced.

Am I the only one who always reads the opening logo as, "The Chub show"?

Nukeproof is now beyond a strange label... do you really want to tickle my balls with a ribbed saddle?
  • 2 1
Dream on Nukeproof - you don't have Graves riding for you so that's a really bad idea. Anyway, the track is getting rougher by the day - we are waiting for you..... ;-)

so shiny. nukeproof should make more shiny frames with nice decals. not the vulgar over the top garish decals they have on the snap at the moment

 ribbed seat cushion?

Would like to be pedantic and clarify that the frame is a standard large Mega Am just 'cut n shut' modified, it doesn't have a longer top tube, its just a size large with the seat tube cut down and re-gusseted for better stand over, the head tube is welded on at a slacker angle and they added top and bottom gussets to reinforce as no FEA CAD or testing was carried out, the gussets weren't 'reinforced', they were added.

Nice speculation. Did you expect them to throw out the old platform entirely just to design a one off?
  • 1 2
What? This information is correct and from the Nigel Page interview the other day, the Mega Am isn't going anywhere, you have no f*ckin clue!

It's like a Hundo. Go work a few hours instead of sitting here whining about how much stuff costs , maybe you could buy it.

 ^ we have a winner!!!

Considering CRC is selling last years Saddle for 76.99 Canadian, I doubt they'll put the new seat priced over $100.
