Throwing a 'cutty' into a dusty berm or corner is a lot of fun and about as close as mere mortals are going to get to riding like Sam Hill or Jared Graves. But a word of warning Pinkbikers, make sure the trail crew don't see you as they'll be out for blood! Better still, if you want to get wild in the corners, get involved and get on the tools...
A tutorial on doing that would be like a tutorial for gluing your hand to your knee, it takes tons of natural talent, skill, and even more dedication, and practice.
all for having a laugh but i hate how people in videos have to take the piss out of slower riders. they are out on their bike having fun, give them a break, just because they are not doing "rad cutty's".
It's their fault for being slow c*nts. You've probably never been stuck behind a gang of those rolling accidents in their full body armor and dh bikes in Morzine - they are all cumgay.
looking at your riding skills ol, I think you'll find yourself among the blokes I talk about. sick 20 degree whips and bar turns by the way bro, so steezy.
Wow it seems like you really understand the spirit of mountain biking... ist all about being a d*ckhead. Screw those m*therf*ckers who just wanna have fun... and if one can't whip he better p*ss off! Now seriously: You are pretty ridiculous @grimowen. You must be fun at parties!
1. Approach the berm at a moderately high speed
2. Make sure pedals are level and heels are dropped
3. Enter the berm.
4. Be awesome.
5. Drift like a god.
6. Shout something cool.
7. Ride away smugly.
Hope that helps.
@glasvagas: Just don't. If you're rad enough to drift without using your rear brake then go for it. If you feel the need to lock your rear brake up in berms go kill yourself.
@bigburd is right if you enter the corner like you normally would you will never get the same effect. You have to go straight without using the corner and after like 50% you smash into it and get this effect.
You need to enter the corner pretty much head on, lean the bike over as much as you can and preload like you're hucking to flat at the right moment to slide both wheels while turning and let the berm catch you as you hopefully pop out rubber side down and facing the right way.
Bunch of bs, I've been following the WC for ages and I have never seen Hill cut off a corner like that during a race run. 'Drifting' (note brackets) like this only ruins berms making it a choppy ordeal for anyone trying to rail them.
This is an example of good riding. Here Stevie Smith wins a World Cup without a single cuttie. In fact he barely disturbs a pebble.... m.youtube.com/watch?v=mO7xwCFZLUE
