Ambitious water boardsports brand ION launched their first bike apparel collection in 2013. Now, the 2014 collection has arrived at local bike shops in over 24 countries worldwide. Time for a short overview of the 100% German engineered collection:

SCRUB & FLARE – Trail/Freeride
Nohander

The brand new Flare (women) and Scrub (men) series are ION's flagships in advanced technical construction and material choice. The long sleeve tops combine DriRelease front panels with airy mesh jerseys on back and arms. The shorts are made of a special 4 way-flex fabric, DWR treated, with laser cut details, bonded hems and a fabric-feature mix that make them a functional, robust and light piece of kit.

The Luzid (women) and Roam (men) lines grew up to 20 different styles for 2014:

Main idea: to combine a caual look with high functionality. All tops are made of Drirelease fabrics with Freshguard, which have a classic cotton look, but dry four times faster than cotton. Cargo style shorts and jeans (shorts & pants) are flexy and feature a cycling specific cut for maximum freedom of movement.

Am I the only one who wants all black trouses/shorts and jersey?
  • 10 3
 Nope !

I would love to have some more subtle kit to choose from , earthy/pastel colors would be nice.

  • 9 1

 Thanks for the input!
We are working on the 2015 collection right now, and be sure, there will be at least one black shorts&jersey version of each line for men.

 how much for the vdub?!
  • 12 0
Actually, I like wearing some colors. I mean, I'm not exactly a fan of taking your TroyLee Pyjama on the local trail, but hey, there are enough decent options aside from black&grey.
  • 8 2
I don't need a lot of bold patterns and giant logos, but colors don't bother me at all. Black can get kind of hot in the summer.

Sombrio had a few good subtle jerseys out a few years back , still stylish but not loud.
  • 1 4
I was thinking the same thing. That teal color is so 2013. I just want black and white as an option. Most mountain bikers probably don't care, they don't have a sense of fashion. However, as designers you should be leaders not followers. Hopefully, ION has some nice features in their garments.

Skittle thugs have so many options these days.
  • 5 3
Unless you are a member of a death-metal band waiting for its break through and have to bike to your gigs because you cant a ford a band-van yet a little color will not hurt you!
  • 4 1
loud colours remind me of some 14 year old swagged out Zumiez customer. I don't dress like that in real life so why would I dress like that for riding?
  • 1 0
Ok @michibretz,, Ill take a lil blood red with my black then.
Now why does the kona 153 not come in black or raw? DAAANG IT

 jeans and t shirt
  • 1 0
I prefer the lumberjack flannel and blue jeans
  • 1 0
I am asking out of pure curiosity, don't want to bash anyone!!!!
If you guys are riding in denim and Flannels or regular T-shirts moisture sweat and mud are no issues for you?
  • 3 0
nope i ride in tee shirts all the time and either cargo shorts or jeans, used to be basket ball shorts. Never had a problem. And I dont even bathe that regularly.
  • 1 0
^haha. i've had some great rides on very humid stank-ass days in similar clothing!
  • 1 0
Those aren't what I consider issues.

How bout some color combinations that don't scream "LOOK AT ME!" Bunch of easter egg colors...Yuck
  • 7 2
You just gotta coordinate dem colours man
  • 8 2
It's a known fact that loud colors make you ride faster...
  • 6 3
Look at TLD for example haha. This shit looks sick

I'm allways on the look out for new kit but most of it is waaaay too bright , I mean I would not wear neon green with cyan pink in real life so why would I on the bike , more earthy colors please !
  • 18 1
Howabout some colours for us 40 somethings with disposable income...
  • 12 1
 A nice change from Black...
Plenty of people are buying Neon coloured frames so why not bright clothing too?
I got a few bits of their clothing
The knee pads are great too, really comfy & blue a nice change from Black pads
  • 4 2
The bright, almost luminous colours that are all the rage at the moment are going to look just as bad as the 80s in a few years time. If you look in a mirror and see you resemble a Power Ranger more than you do a normal person- that's when you know it's gone too far!! I'm from a surfing background and I will freely say that MTBers are without doubt some of the least fashionable people on the planet!!!
  • 1 0
You must of Heard of ION then coming from a surfing background. I have a couple of ION wetsuits
  • 5 2
Yeah I have, but they are a relatively new brand really. My kind of surf fashion is the chilled look... no massive logos (adverts) and no neon (ever). MTBers seem so proud to walk around in a bright yellow top with company names all over it. I can't win the argument that a lot of riding clothing is functional and therefore beneficial. However, I will never lose the argument that most riding brands are frankly peerless in making their customers look like utter w*nkers!!!
  • 1 1
Blame Shawn Palmer - he made looking like a motocross rider cool. And this is the result.

Finally, a company that is releasing a solid amount of women's clothing in 2014. Looks good too. I'm really hoping we'll see this brand in Canada.
  • 9 2
I couldn't stand at the Slash poster, with that kinda brap skill. you couldn't cable tie or stick the brake line up and that shoe lace. another perfectionist day.
  • 2 0
Apparently, you have pretty healthy sightSmile
  • 3 1
Supposed to be props not a neg. damn you overly sensitive touchscreen......1st world problems. At least the lace is non drive side
  • 5 0
I've got the scrub setup in red/fluro. Looks really well made, useful features like goggle wipe and lift pass pocket, with useful pockets where you need them.

It's SAM PILGRIM, not PILGRAM. Gosh, at least learn how to spell your sponsored athletes' names!!!
  • 4 0
@southof...... Just a spelling mistake, sorry, shit happens.
But be sure, we know how to spell Pilgrim, just not able to correct this post, when it is published by pinkbike on the front page.
And thanks for the hint. You get a free set of gloves, if you find any other wrong spelled pilgrim on our website or facebook page!
