 And the elevation!

 Fun Fact; Even though Mammoth is closer to San Fransisco in terms of miles, it takes wayyyyyy longer to get there from the Bay Area than it would if you're coming from LA. One of the many reasons I need a private helicopter.

 I've done it before. Honestly, I would rather ride in Santa Cruz

 I'm starting to think that living in Bishop has some up-sides...

 @dolface: Depends on where you start. From the Bay Area, it is 5-6 hours with no traffic.

 @dolface: Yeah good luck with that. With all of the Asians driving slower than my dead grandmother, getting through Yosemite will take longer than parking at 99 Ranch.

 If I leave LA at 6:30AM I can be to the top of the Gondola by noon. That's suiting up, buying ticket, shuttle to the gondola, gondola to the top.

 @unrooted: Eastern Sierras are nice man! -your neighbor down south.

 @MrPink51: Way less heroin in the Mammoth lakes area.

 @abzillah: It's doable and passing is still legal (even if kids today are afraid of, or unschooled in the technique). Asian driver jokes not so cool in 2016. Better to visit Manzanar nearby.

 @Turboduck01: ridgecrest? You're a lucky man...

 @endlessblockades: everyone knows that it's not all Asian people that don't drive well, but all bad drivers are...

 @unrooted: Bro look around you, trials are everewhere!

 @sscantaffordcrap: are you the kid that dug the trails above baker creek?

 Should I give Mammoth a try? I'm a little jaded of Northstar, how does Mammoth compare?
  • 6 1
 Yes , you should .
Mammoth is way better than North*
  • 3 0
 @bmxer72: I wouldn't say better, but completely different. Kitty litter instead of moon dust.
  • 2 0
 @carym: Mammoth is way better than N* if you like tech. The flow trails are about the same, but Mammoth is definitely more technical.

 I prefer Mammoth in late June. Later in the summer it can get dusty and washed out. Always a good time no matter when you go, though! much different riding than North Star.

 Of course ... We should all be riding Mammoth, Northstar and Summit. Its the best chair lift parks we have in the bottom half of the state. Dirt isnt as good as Northstar since its kitty litter like but it is what it is. Fun none the less and something different.

 I'm camping 3 nights at Twin Lakes and racing at the Kamikaze Bike Games in September. It was FOOKING beautiful last year....great solo getaway from fam. Braaaaaap x Buuuuurp. (very) poor man's Whistler. very. but I can pull it off.

 Yes! I'll be there for the 4th of July! Pretty much just to ride Bullet and Follow Me; I hope the chair from Canyon Lodge is open this year!

 @rjdelly: thanks!

 Having ridden both mammoth and northstar many times, I would just say they are different in terms of dirt and build styles. I prefer North Star though due to the chair lift access, you can get way more runs in at northstar compared to mammoth. Less pedaling at northstar also.

 Go home @Bridgemurray, you're sober.

 Gonna hold off until Shock Treatment opens up...
  • 2 1
 YES 4th of july is going to be so dope
  • 1 3
 Hahahaha. Never thought of that! Im assuming you have to pass through Yosemite to get there?
  • 1 1
 Mammoth from SF using Highway 108 Sonora Pass in 5 hours easy - avoid Yosemite. Same as from LA. Zzzzzzzzzzzz, I know.
