Words : Damien VergezFilming in Southern Utah is limitless, a never-ending ridge line where the landscape is vast and the possibilities are endless. The natural terrain here gives riders enough space and infinite possibilities to truly express their riding. Everywhere you look there are options ready to be shredded.
When you walk on this dusty ground, it makes you feel like you are on Mars… except with mountain lions and tarantulas. Mind you, it is, after all a desert. In this series we'll be searching for the best and steepest lines as we take freeride mountain biking right back to its core, explore the gnarliest place on earth and do it all with the world's best big mountain shredders.
And what a better place to start this MTB series than Utah ?
To make this edit in just 5 days was a constant challenge, especially for Antoine Bizet and Nico Vink who had just finished a week at The Redbull Rampage. After one of the most difficult and exhausting contests of the year, they managed to maintain the stoke to ride their bikes. Always seeking the best lines to work for the film, the guys were 100% focused on doing whatever it took to share their vision of freeride. It was a real pleasure to spend this week with Nico and Antoine who are both passionate riders committed to perfection.
The conditions were also difficult: dust, heat and especially wind frequently made riding and maintaining equipment really difficult. The wind was out in full force every afternoon, reducing the window to capture really good action shots and at the same time hugely increasing the risk of crashes.
Even if it may have been the most difficult place to film, it was also the best place for riders to express their skills. And when you have golden light everyday, beautiful colors, and awesome landscapes, you can not complain.
After a week of hard work from all involved, we got some serious results - I hope you enjoy them!

Second picture down, is that by chance The Swell a.k.a. mini grand canyon? That place is so sick.
@scott-townes, I guess we were fortunate
The rampage site and those trails are intimidating, you have to either love jumps and drops, or shredding some sketchy rocky trails, last year all i worked on was surviving, so i cant wait to return.
And it's not in the video, but he did a backflip on the first jump, and a frontflip on the second... Crazy !
You don't realize how gnarly this stuff is until you see it in person.

Seems like the Henry Mountain herd is mainly from Hanksville down to Lake Powell, so more in the central part of southern Utah, but it also states some of the males went west, so maybe they actually saw one of those few.
Have u seen his double back on his operator at nine knights??? Loco francesito!
