Sick Bike + Great Song + Great Riding + Sick Edit = VOD tomorrow

is that the super light trek frame? Wasn't there a build on pinkbike that was under 30 lbs for this frame?

@gnarly-productions the video was shot for a review article and was supposed to show the different aspects that helped set the bike apart as well as ridding on some of the local trails. It is pretty far from an advert...

no kidding eh DOYLE?? i saw this when it first came out... doesn't need to be VOD. VOD is about new and creative things. not selling points on "new" technology.

Average rider with a 10 000$ bike and probably more, the video is good but I agree I dont like this king of alarm music. Great for you if you have the money to pay a bike like that, I hope you love riding it, really.

bring on the neg props but this song is getting so old in mtb videos. Sick video and riding though, I really liked how the sound of the tires on the dirt was nice and loud.

Nope, you're right... it's just that 90% of this site doesn't know that original music, and I mean music and not dubstep crap, is a huge part of an edit. BE ORIGINAL.
By the way, that bike is God.

hey guys worried about repetitive songs please consider taking note to the upload date of this video and keep in mind i had the song picked long before the video was up, i am not by any means saying this is the first mtb video to have the song 'midnight city' by m83, but i am just hoping to notify you that it was one of the firsts when i started editing the video to the song. This doesn't make it better than any of the other videos with the same song, but i ask to just keep the bashing to a minimum when you talk about being original. I felt 28 days ago when the video was uploaded (about 3 weeks after the album release) that it was original, and that the song pretty well. Thanks for the feedback though guys, glad to hear you guys care a lot about song choice and want originality

I completely understand your situation but it just happens so damned much in the mtb community that sometimes we jump the gun and point it out without looking at those kind of things. And it doesn't help that ever since m83 was featured in That's It, That's All that people have been using them relentlessly in edits and in videos. So really, I guess our comments don't apply to you but hopefully other people out there will see it and think twice about using a song they've seen used before... multiple times.

With TONNES of new and amazing music coming out daily. its just irritating and sad that with edits, they have to use the same songs over and over. It shows complete lack of imagination and thought. regardless of how it came to be its already been used a few times. When did Thats it Thats all come out? i cant even remember now.
I know you dont pick the VOD's but this is improper use of the VOD in my honest opinion. its a pinkbike guy, and a major brand with an overused song and decent editing. Not only that, it was already used in an article/review/promo for this bike recently...

i feel like that bike was overkill for that terrain. sick bike, but can i see it on a sick trail?

They just showed the flowy sections of that trail. They left out the whole rock shale section in the middle. It's a really cool, insanely fast trail.

This is an advertisement, not VoD worthy. There are loads of better vids every day.
Plus the music is just mindlessly overplayed.

I think people come in here complaing about how overplayed the song is more than the song is actually overplayed. You think people would see the 100 other comments about it and realize they are bringing nothing new to the table. Pay attention people.

Supposedly the Carbon V10 is stronger than the alloy version. If you crack or damage the frame, your alloy version would be destroyed as well. I imagine Trek has the same testing standards

They're not going to make a carbon fiber frame unless it is at least as strong as before. In addition, it is a well known fact that carbon fiber is stronger than aluminum, I don't know why this is still an issue.

I'm sure Rob is referring to the carbon's (lack of) abrasion resistance. We all know carbon is strong, but when crashing at speed on a dh bike, the bike usually grinds to a halt. All abrasions fatigue the frame's structural integrity moreso than aluminum, and we'll all have to wait to see what real world testing (not pro riders) proves for carbon's role in the dh market. The carbon armor appears to be well thought out and placed in strategic locations to take abrasion from crashing into effect.
I never imagined riding Sumas Mt (where this vid is shot) on a 8" bike, but at 35 lbs, why the heck not?!! If anything carbon's use on dh bikes will open up a door to more riders being able to access remote terrain on a big bike, which will lead to more great videos!

Wise words brad, (haha never read most of the comments till now). Im sure you have seen the video of santa cruz stress testing frames. Pretty crazy stuff. I am hoping that trekk's carbon weve is holding up the same way.
One a side note, the boys have been riding the session 9.9 hard continuously for the past months and news is its still holding up!

looked speeded up at the beginning. the bike doesnt stay in the air long enough and the movement looks too jerky. watch it again and you'll see what i mean.
- - 5
I'm gonna say it as well, might just be a crappy conversion along the way but it definitely looked choppy and running a little too fast at the start.
- + 2
i'm not knocking the video, or the rider, he may well be faster than me, (unsure of how you know that "the special one" have you been spying on people you big perv! ha)
- + 4
It's not sped up, it's shot 60fps, yes a few shots in the beginning showing the bike parts where jittery because they were 30fps shots edited in a 60fps timeline, which is my fault, but all the ridding is 100% speed at 60fps, except for the shot that was slowed down to 24fps for slow motion. Yes 60fps and 24fps have a different look doesn't mean the editor is speeding it up.
