If you thought the biking in Squamish was awesome before, the new Diamond Head Trail project is going to take Squamish to the next level. Literally! SORCA is going up, up, all the way up and with
Gravity Logic's build skills will be extending the existing Stl’lhalem Sintl’ (aka The Climbing Trail) by another 6km all the way to the top of the Diamond Head Trail System. That’s a whole lot of pedalling, but we guarantee you it will all be worth it ’cause what goes up, must come down!
And to get you down,
Joyride Bike Parks is building a fast and flowy descent that’s guaranteed to put a big smile on your face! The terrain in the upper Diamond Head area is incredible with stands of old growth forests and killer views over Squamish and Howe Sound.
Both Trail builders have broken ground in what will be the most significant trail building project SORCA has ever undertaken. The project will complete SORCA’s long-term vision to connect the existing Stl’lhalem Sintl’ climbing trail to an undeveloped area in the upper Diamond Head area, where a new descent trail will be built, forming a single track loop over 20 kilometres long .
The project will see over 9 kilometres of new trail added to the network, extending the climbing trail from its current terminus at the top of Angry Midget to the top of the Diamond Head parking lot and will link up to a brand new descent trail while opening up the area to future trail development. The new trail will also provide a continuous single-track experience from Quest University to Garibaldi Provincial Park and on to Red Heather hut and Elfin Lakes.
SORCA has worked hard over the last last year to secure funding for the trail from our partners and sponsors including the District of Squamish, the Whistler Backcomb Foundation,
OneUp Components,
Rocky Mountain Bikes,
NORCO,
RockShox and many more. But to finish off the project, and to reach SORCA’s funding goal, we need your help!
SORCA has hired the builders (both local Squamish trail builders and of Whistler Bike Park fame), plotted the route, and is ready for the fun to begin - and this is where you come in! SORCA needs cold hard cash in order to see this project come to fruition. So we’re asking you to reach into your pockets, break out the credit cards, grab your check books, look beneath your couch cushions and help us raise the bar in Squamish!
In order to build approximately 25,000 ft of trail it’s going to cost about $125,000. That’s a lot of nickels! So SORCA, with the help of project partners and sponsors, is going to sweeten the pot and give you a few added incentives to donate as much as you can. For every $5 you donate, you’ll be helping to build 1 foot of trail. And every foot of trail that you help to build will get you one entry into our amazing prize draw. Prizes include a carbon
Rocky Mountain Altitude 750MSL, a carbon
NORCO Range frameset,
Rockshox Boxxer,
Rockshox Pike, and even a
Reverb!
So if you ride in Squamish or have ever dreamed of riding in Squamish, visit the fundraising page at

Give money, win prizes, ride new trails. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

Above the Midget is immediately into the Park Boundry so that begs the question, if SORCA has permission from BC Parks what are the odds of opening a discussion of trail building from Paul Ridge down? Now that would be forward thinking...an addition 2700 vertical feet from the Midget from the Sub Alpine.
