Commencal Canada Logo

No, it’s not a new distributor or a new shop. After developing a direct online sales platform in Europe and the USA, Canada is next with the installation of a new Commencal office in Squamish, exactly halfway between Vancouver and Whistler.

It must be said that it’s easy to fall in love with British Columbia! This place has an incredible mountain bike culture and in Squamish, everything is about MTB and outdoor sports.

The first bikes are already in stock. The warehouse and office will open in March and the showroom in the Spring!

You can already write to us at media@commencalcanada.com or contact@commencalcanada.com, or call us at +1 (604) 389-9569

There is certainly a multitude of positive reasons to having an office, showroom and an on-site warehouse:

- An in-house customer service department providing a direct and rapid response, dealing with all enquiries whether concerning new models purchased or those already in circulation.
- Direct contact with the brand. No intermediary. Instant answers to all questions.
- The bikes are delivered directly from the warehouse. No unnecessary time-wasting or unnecessary costs.
- Ability to see with your own eyes, test and ride on the countless trails in Squamish or the slopes of Whistler.
- Competitive prices including all taxes and fast delivery across Canada.

For more information, details on the dates, products and more, head to www.commencalcanada.com (click the Canadian flag for French or English options).

Sorry but I am a young ling.
  • 11 1
Honestly, I find it less frustrating than while we were at/above par and still paying more

Buy a norco, devinci, or giant, a company that actually ships from Taiwan to canada! Even specialized doesn't do that. They go through the us. You can still get deals, you just have to be smarter.

It really pays to be in the united states; buying anything naturally Canadian. So maple syrup and that's it really.

 + oil, Cheetos

I still can't believe that companies like this have their prices as high as they do... Considering you can easily get say a comparable devinci through a LBS for just as cheap by MSRP and cheaper through any sort of discount established through loyalty... Not to mention a shop will generally take care of you and give you buddies to go riding with... And generally those who work at the shops are the advocates for trail building in their respective area.

With that being said, it definitely works for that who have shitty/no LBS's.

No joke! For the price of the top of the line supreme DH v4 (not on sale, $7999) I can buy a carbon aurum through my LBS for (7.2 $7399) with similar spec and still have money to upgrade the stem so it's not a Norco brand DM stem. And to boot I'll probably get a discount due to the high price and a free tune up in 30 days. Aswell the bike is 3 lbs lighter!
  • 3 1
Absolutely Drew. Not to mention supporting devinci supports Canadian workers, and keeps your cash in Canada.
  • 2 2
No kidding. My next bike will still be a honzo from a lbs that offers free tune ups on any bike they sell as long a you own it. The honzo seems to be a more up to date frame too

Did you saw that tx were included in the price?

Would you buy from a Canadian online bike company that, as best as possible, keeps your cash here in Canada? We do.
Also we are still local riders and continue to give back locally. Going online doesn't mean we wouldn't show up for trail days and would love to have people in the K-W, Toronto, or Ottawa area join us for a group ride.

Unfortunately I live in Newfoundland... So you living in Toronto has no effect to my riding or ability to ride... So by me buying online from someone from Toronto... Im just supporting riding there... Riding I will never see... You see? Lol
  • 1 0
@Drewdude: I was just in St. John's two weeks ago. If I can get out there I am sure you can get here Smile
When you do there will be great trails waiting and we will point you in the direction.

Cheers,

So basically by that conclusion, Its only okay to buy a bike only to go ride it once probably every couple years when I leave the island to travel. I respect what you are saying; however, in my experience (having lived in 5 Canadian provinces multiple communities/cities) its the LBS's that create a community effort to building and maintaining trails. Unless I were loaded with well some hard currancy and had no wife or kids, it's not really worth it to even have a multiple thousand dollar bike if there aren't trails that I could easily access on a regular basis. In all though, thank you for the invite and supporting a trail network in your area that maybe someday I can get to ride.

I'm stoked on any bike related business moving to my town. Will seriously consider this brand they already make wicked bikes and having them just down the street makes it more tempting. Now who wants to buy my Giant?.
  • 6 1
Nice to hear, gives me another option/s when i buy my trail bike.
  • 2 1
They dont sell it in Canada ! Just the AM bikes ! Not the 120 mm trail bikes ! And anyways Commencal is cheaper if bought from the States !
  • 4 1
That is not true first of all they tax the bike once it crosses the border second of all on the US site they advertise in US dollars so multiply the prices on the US site. So here is the formula: USprice X 1.35 X 1.13
  • 5 1
or you can ship to a friend in bellingham, go ride for a couple days and come home with a dirty, used bike...
  • 5 1
You are stilling paying for the bike with Canadian money
  • 4 0
Just did the sums on the Meta AM Purple.

It's $2,999 USD or $4,899 CAD in their respective web shops. But if you buy from the US store with Canadian $, then pay the 13% tax, it comes out to $4,591 CAD. That $300 is a pretty good saving, but not a huge percentage of the price.
  • 1 0
And then there is shipping which will be less from Canada also sometimes they make you pay extra tax when buying stuff that more then a certain amount of money fro, across the border.
  • 1 0
Be careful, you should be using www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/dte-acl/est-cal-eng.html for import bikes. Purple at 4899 Cad will be 6200$ cad when done (not including shipping).

5100 CAD if you buy from the us store (not including shipping).
  • 1 0
You do realize that if you buy from a store in Canada with the goods shipped from Canada that the importer has taken care of all the import duty right?
Or, do you go to Futureshop, buy a TV, have it shipped then expect the CBSA to come knocking?
  • 1 0
Ignore my last post, I forgot your picking up in Squamish. So, 5535 Cad, vs 5100 cad (plus shipping) from us store.
  • 2 0
@jonokonko : look , for example take the Meta AM V4 Origin with RS 650 B : - for the US site it is advertised for 2099$ US dollars at a discount of 25% , and the same bike on the canadian site it says it costs 3399 $ CDN dollars ( with a 27% of discount LOL ) . Now if you transform those US dollars into canadian dollars using an acurate currency of today the result is : 2841 $ CDN dollars that way you would save 550 $ CDN dollars wich is something.IT IS TRUE HOWEVER THAT ON THE US SiTE THEY DONT MENTiON ANYTHiNG ABOUT TAX .And why would you mind asking someone from Bellingham to buy it Wink . I will be buying a Commencal bike ! Its the trail bike because its superb , I can only say that I apologize for not actually supporting the brand in Canada! But saving 500 its worth it for me ! Sorry Commencal Canada , thank you Commencal US !

They have incl tax in the price on the Canadian site but Americans do not pay sales tax when purchasing from other states. So they dont have to pay tax unless, unluckily, the commencal warehouse is located in your state. Even than most state tax is 5% or less.

Also if considering having a bike shipped here from the U.S. that you will probably have tax (13%) and duty (11%) tacked on. I havent dont the math but likely not worth it.

Cheapest way would be to order a bike from the US site and have it shipped to a friend or Mail Box for pick up. No tax/duty if you don't claim it at the border (ride it for a while). Risky though....so I wont come right out and recommend that. Also not sure if that would affect your warranty.

Remember boys, what you see in the currency calculator sites isn't going to be what shows up on your credit card bill from your bank...

Bought a cheap GT Road bike a year and half ago from Jenson USA. only had to pay 5% GST. No duty and no 13% tax (wherever that % came from) were charged. Bike was made in Taiwan, but final assembly in California.
  • 1 1
Ontario sales tax is 13%. BC is 12% and Alberta is 5%.
  • 1 0
BC only pays GST (5%) on bikes.
  • 1 0
really. Lucky bastards. Why is that?
  • 2 1
 Cause Ontario has shitty government
  • 1 0
 Give it a rest.

This business model is the future. Direct sales with the involvement of shops. Any way to avoid using a Canadian distributor is the way to go. When I owned a bmx shop, I would often have buy online so A) I could actually get product, and B) so I could get product cheaper. Its a joke.
  • 2 1
I'm doing just fine with my LBS...Thx. I don't know a lot about it, but it gets said again and again that there's a bit of a problem with the current Canadian distribution system...so ok, someone fix that. I'm not buying a complete bike online.
  • 2 0
and for me, I'd much rather buy online. The "service" I should get from a shop is so consistently brutal that I am just too turned off to try and support them anymore. I'm glad you have received the service you should get when you drop several thousand$ on a new bike.

Fair enough Rex. Any store should be earning their respect and patronage. An increasing rarity these days in all fields.

 So any job openings?
  • 2 0
First the East needs real mountains.
  • 1 0
Can I come by and drool over the bikes in squamish? What's the address? Or is it just an office/workshop?
  • 3 0
 The East need this too!
  • 2 0
 Who's next, Canyon?
  • 1 0
No steel hard tail frames. Boo
  • 1 0
Not selling slope bikes to us up north?
  • 1 1
Does this mean that the LBS' that carried Commencal in canada previously, wont be selling them any more?
