1:44min – Oh yeah... "we worked hard on stuff..." – by copying the sixpack-racing "Splitz" Stem: www.pinkbike.com/photo/3172694

Sure it's a direct-mount and the basic-shape is pretty much given but this looks very clear like an rip off to me. Thumbs Down
  • 10 4
It's not a rip off if both companies buy them from the same place. Wink
  • 9 11
Sure not. The german engineer who designed the stem from scratch is a friend of me. So I should know.

Black Label bar looks like a direct stab at the RaceFace Atlas FR to me! Still, 785's (Or 787's in this case) are too wide unless your over 6'4" (I'm about 5'11"). Although the atlas felt more stable when I put it on, I've just cut it down to 760 and its done nothing but improve my riding, with the shorter length not affecting stability at all. Just my 2 cents for anyone who's not sure what length bar to go for.

Oh, and I own last years Dirty 30 - Deity bars feel seriously lightweight and super strong, I can only see this years model being an improvement! Big Grin

 new D30's look so sick.

 sweet ass pedals!

grinsekater, why would they rip off a brand nobody has ever heard of?
The Deity is better than the sixpack anyway because it is 7075 alu instead of 6061.
  • 15 3
We have never even heard of "Six Pack" and we are not interested in copying anyone. That is like saying we copied Point1 Racing, E13, or any other 4 piece stem manufacturer. Simply because our stem is adjustable in reach and is a 4 piece design, does not mean it is the same as another stem. Check out a close pic at deitycomponents.blogspot.com/2010/04/deity-fantom-dm-stem.html if you need to compare. We have been working on this stem for over a year and are quite proud of the final product we put out.

What's sad is that Sixpack racing are spreading crap about it being "a 99% copy" over facebook. How pathetic is that! It's not as if handlebars, grips and seatposts look much different is it! Apart from the Six-Pack Racing Splitz Ltd edition stem which does look pretty sick to be fair ( www.sixpack-racing.com/en/parts/stems ), The Deity one's look way better anyhow. As for Six-Pack Racing's distribution channel...
  • 1 3
The deity looks better with a little more machining over it but just look at these pictures. Its the basic form of the sixpack.

@ Keiron
As I said before: there might be some basic shapes about bikeparts but this looks to me like they took the Sixpack Stem and looked how they could make it better. Sure you may be inspired by stuff which is on the market but this looks a little to obvious to me and sure there is stuff out in the market where companies choose a standard stem, post or whatever from a catalogue from the little country in the far east and put just their logo on it.
But in this case where the engineer is a riding buddy from me and so I know pretty well that he designed this stem up from scratch I see another company comes by, takes the work of someone (changed a couple of little bits) and stand in front of a camera tell customers that they worked on this stem a couple of years... my personal feeling is that this is wrong.

You may build your own opinion by looking on the two stems.

Once again...we have never heard of "Sixpack" and were not "inspired" by their stem. I designed our stem and no offense, would never use the "Sixpack" stem as a template. This would be the exact opposite direction our company is going. We have a few pics on our blog for people to look at the differences, such as all of the machining, shape, material, etc. etc. etc. etc.
In fact, if any company was an inspiration at all for the deity Fantom DM...it would be Point 1 Racing and the E13 Ali. I can give credit where credit is due as they are two beautiful 4 piece stems.
You may as well throw this up there also to examine until our new site launches with detailed hi-res images of our design. You have to love the internet...now, I am going to go dig for a few hours as I am wasting time giving this company more exposure on this.

 im gettin those pedals!
  • 7 1
We spoke, they listened, they changed. I have the utmost respect for them. Awesome... just fucking awesome!
  • 5 2
Im likeing the components, but why no catering to those that want to colour coordinate? Im sure its not that big of a pain in the ass to tell your anodizer to hit it up with so 90's purple ano Wink
  • 2 2
+1! Rubbish isn't it! Most companies just won't budge to cater. Recently I rang up HopeTech regarding purchasing anodized Tech V2s. They refused to do it just because I'm not sponsored or in a team. I was willing to pay extra but they just wasn't interested. Yet they have this E-Brochure free for download from their website that displays their components in all these different colours....

Deity's customer service sucks tho. Tried getting my Cranks warrantied and they are being big bitches about replacing them. Still trying to get them to cover it.. Ill see how it turns out.(lifetime warranty which should cover the welds cracking after under a years worth of ridng)
  • 3 2
We take care of any and all warranties. I would recommend contacting us directly and as long as you are the original owner, we never deny a warranty. You can get our contact information at www.deitycomponents.com/contact.htm and we look forward to hearing from you.
  • 4 2
I've heard that before. After contacting the owner of Deity directly, back around January, my Deity crankset and bottom bracket still are not working. Pieces were not sent that I was told were going to be replaced.... I pretty much gave up with dealing with them as they were not helping to resolve the issue. Instead I brought the Raceface Atlas crankset and couldn't be any happier. It works great and had no issues.

bottom bracket is nice, but I doubt anyone would ever switch from profiles to deity like the guy mentioned. Now, if they made a 100mm bb shell bb I'd be all over that like a fat chick on cake.
  • 2 1

  • 1 1
The new stuff looks legit!! Can't wait to try the bars.

Anyone know if the seats will come in pivotal?
  • 2 1
No pivotal, They would like to but the would have to pay mcniel for the patent, At this point with all of their big changes they are just starting to boost up. So possibly in the future, there will be.
  • 1 0
Oh ok, thats sweet. I don't have a pivotal post for my dj anyways.
