When we're younger we're all given the motivation to dream to be anything in the world. We think of things like a doctor, astronaut, veterinarian or movie star. We are told we can be whatever we want to be if we just put our minds to it. For Micayla Gatto, being one thing wasn't ever enough. She wanted to be an athlete, but she was coming into her own as a talented artist. Melding the two has become her passion, and finding the intersection of art and sport has become a lifestyle. Last year we were given the opportunity to create a story surrounding Micayla's talents. We dreamt of alpine descents at sunrise and golden-hued sunset. Our little dream became a crazy reality when we added in the notion to animate Micayla into her artwork and get really creative with color. The result is Intersection.
Breaking the mold has become the latest talent of Micayla's. We hope you enjoy Intersection as much as we enjoyed its creation.
No one ever said you could be more than one thing and that you could be good at more than one thing. I thought you had to choose.—Micayla Gatto

First "Be Humble." Now this. Can't wait to show this to my 6 year old artist daughter. She isn't into bikes, always says that's "daddy's thing" and art is hers, but I want her to know she can be an artist, biker, veterinarian, mother, whatever all at the same time. It also lit a fire under my ass to get back to my own art. Thank you Micayla and crew!
This is rad and super inspiring--thanks Micayla--and in case it's of any interest, that last photo made me realize that I'd buy the HELL out of a Micayla Gatto MTB coloring book!
Mind blown....as expected micayla throws down, and also lucky enough to have seen her really cool art , I am blown away by really creative integration of her art into the shr-eddit
Love this -- any and all intersections of art and the human body's incredible athletic potential... so much rich synesthesia saturating the senses... Go Micayla!
that art is next level tho...combined with bikes = perfection!!!
Better get my head out of my ass and off pinkbike and ride/draw more
