Vouilloz occasionally rides ebike, as his sponsors happen to have one in the line-up, to do enduro kind of biking where you have to cover distance and tough climb and although I'm not an ebike lover, I have to admit that ebikes make sense in this way, whether you have a disability or getting too hold to tackle big ride, it will allow you to keep doing what you love. Sam is flipping ebikes in a skatepark. and as much as as i have no hate for Sam I'm just questioning what's the f*cking point of an ebike here... are we going to e-slopestyle and e-streetbiking ?... Won't blame Sam for taking the deal, I just don't see the link between the kind of rider he is and the concept behind the ebike.
@CloseCall: you could also ask why do any of us ride bikes at all? He's having harmless fun who are you to judge. He doesn't need a "concept" he's riding bikes not painting modern art.
So for upcoming year a random news articles are ''Sam Pilgrim did something he does on a bicycle but now it's a first time cause now he rides for (Insert random E-bike manufacturer name here) and uses an e-bike as an normal jump bike. Sadly there is just an ordinary but very heavy trail bike that's getin a role in those ''First ones'' and that's it. Motor only works up to 25km/h and by pedal assist only. This kind of riding got nothing to do with that, yo need more speed anyways and also you can't even manipulate your bike in air via throttle, there is none. Yeah it's easier to get up the hill on those bikes but, but taking all THAT weight in the air without possibility to get more speed when you need it and no throttle to manage it? Really? I'm not an e-bike hater (product has it's niche ), but this all Sam's on e-bike deal smells too much like '' we just need suckers to buy our bikes, cause we have Sam now...''
@DrSam: Yeah, they probably will evolve, but he's still f*cking around on an awful bike, that he doesn't even need to be on. It's not like he's only got one type of non powered bike. Pssh haha.
I don't see the point why why should get convinced that an emtb is for everything. And Sam Pilgrim is trying hard for this. OK - you can try all these with any kind of a bike but that's not the point. I don't want to become an emtb hater because I don't give a F. If you cannot pedal uphill, but you should because it was always like that and that's the whole point, go and buy an emtb. BUT don't try to convince all the rest of us that hey look, I can do anything on such a bike! It won't do much - really.
I'm not against e-mtb and not at all against him riding these bikes. Sam has massive skill and strength. What he proves here is that he can pull it off. What he also shows here is that this is not the best tool for the job at hand. Which is fine too. Better prove it than merely speculate behind a keyboard. But I wouldn't merely attibute that to the pedal assist. A mid travel full suspension bike is just not ideal for this type of terrain.
More interested in his new (unassisted) DJ bike though. Is it actually going to bring something new to the table or is it merely there to offer him a complete package? Even just among German brands it is going to have a tough time competing against competition proven bikes from YT, Canyon, Rose etc.
Doesn't anyone else think that e bikes could be good for jumps and street because you've got extra power with every pedal so it'd be easier to get the speed for certain things and when you get that moment where you think I'm not going fast enough to clear this it could save you with one quick pedal. I see a future for a really high power setting for this situation also they can be derestricted so if you're that way inclined they can do well over 25km/h.

That is incorrect because Nico is actively involved in the development of Lapierre eMTB line-up. Whenever you see him he's on a prototype...
Electric cars were crappy and unsexy. Tesla changed all that. Have you seen their new car?
We'll find a niche. Its a choice. Fitting them in a category is a challenge thats for sure.
Thought that was supposed to help do more laps/climb the steeper trails/help me bike when I'll be 75. But that...
